What the Satisfactory Server Manager does
The Server Manager is the in-game control panel for connecting to and administering a Satisfactory dedicated server. It is not the same as the list of worlds or saves on your local game. You first create a server entry with an address and port, connect to that endpoint, and then complete a one-time claim process. After claiming, your account is remembered as an administrator, so later sessions can open the same server without repeating the initial setup.

An administrator can perform actions that ordinary players cannot, including loading a saved game, changing server options, and creating a new game. Administrators can also grant administrative access to other players. A separate player password can restrict who joins the server, but that password is optional and is not enabled by default.
Check these details before connecting
Confirm the game and server versions
Published setup material references both Satisfactory 1.1 and Update 1.2. Menu labels, network requirements, and server settings can change between updates, so check the patch information for the version running on your client and dedicated server before relying on a setting or port number. A client and server that are on different builds may fail to connect even when the address is correct.

- [Games need exclusions and runtimes, not malware]Some customers ask why our retro game drives can trigger Windows Security warnings. Many game files are older DLLs that Windows Defender sometimes flags as threats. They are not viruses or malware—just old or uncommon code causing false positives. We temporarily add them to the exclusion list so they aren't blocked, then re-enable Security to keep your PC protected. Many classic games also need legacy VC++ and DirectX runtimes, which modern Windows doesn't include by default. Installing them ensures compatibility and smooth play. Your safety matters to us—these are safe, standard steps for retro games.

Collect the address and port
You need the server’s reachable IP address (or a resolvable host name) and its game port. Port 7777 is the most commonly cited game port in setup guides, but it is not a universal value. Other documentation mentions 15777 for a query service and TCP 8888 in some configurations. Treat those numbers as clues to verify against the server’s current documentation and configuration rather than as a fixed recipe.
Have the initial administrator credentials ready
The first player who successfully connects to an unclaimed server must choose its name and set the administrator password. Decide on a unique password before you begin and store it in a password manager. The password is needed for administrative actions and for API claim requests; it is not the same as the password ordinary players may use to join.
Understand the licensing qualification
One setup guide says a licensed client is required to claim and administer a server. That requirement has not been independently confirmed in the available official material, so verify it for your game version and deployment before treating it as a hard prerequisite.
Add a server entry in Server Manager
- Launch Satisfactory and stop at the main menu.
- Open Server Manager.
- Choose the command to add a new server.
- Enter the server’s IP address (or host name) and the configured port. If your administrator has not changed the default, 7777 is the value most often cited for the game connection, but confirm it first.
- Save the entry and select it to connect.
If the entry saves but the connection fails, the problem is usually an address, port, firewall, or version mismatch rather than the claim password. Test the exact address from the same network first, then test from the network where other players will connect. Do not expose additional ports simply because a guide lists them; open only the ports required by the server’s current configuration.

Claim an unclaimed server
A new server starts in an unclaimed state. The first player who connects is shown the claim form. Claiming binds the server to a name and creates the administrator credential used for subsequent management.
- Connect to the server entry you just created.
- When the claim screen appears, enter a descriptive server name. Use a name that distinguishes this instance if you operate more than one server.
- Enter and confirm the administrator password. Save it securely; there is no normal in-game display of the existing value.
- Complete the claim action.
- Choose whether to create a new game or import/load an existing save, if the manager offers that option.
- Wait for the session to finish loading before asking other players to join.
The first session you create becomes the playable world for that server. Loading a save is an administrative operation, so a player who has only the join password cannot perform it.

Administrator password
The administrator password protects privileged operations. It governs access to Save Game loading, Server Options, and New Game creation. It is also the credential used when claiming the server through an HTTPS API request. Give it only to people who should be able to alter the server or its worlds.
Player password
The player password controls ordinary joining. It is optional and disabled by default, so an unconfigured server does not automatically require a password from every player. Setting a join password does not grant administrative rights, and knowing the administrator password is not a substitute for configuring the join password when you want to restrict the player list.

Practical separation
- Use a long, unique administrator password and keep it out of chat and public configuration files.
- If you need access control for friends or a community, set a different player password.
- Never reuse the administrator password as the player password; anyone who learns the join password should not automatically gain management privileges.
Manage the server after it is claimed
Reconnect as an administrator
Administrator status is remembered per account. After the initial claim, reconnecting with the same account should identify you as an administrator. If another trusted person needs management access, an existing administrator can grant that account administrative access from the server’s management controls.
Load a save or start a new game
Use the administrative controls in Server Manager when you need to load a different session or create a new one. These actions replace the active world, so coordinate with players before performing them and keep a current save. A normal player can join the running session but cannot carry out these protected operations.

Change server options
Open the server options area only while connected as an administrator. Apply one change at a time and note the previous value, especially when troubleshooting. If a setting is not present in your build, do not copy a value from a guide written for another update; the available options can differ between Satisfactory releases.
Grant or revoke administrative access
Use the account-management controls to add administrators who need to help operate the server. Grant the role sparingly: an administrator can change sessions and options, not merely moderate chat. Remove access when a collaborator no longer needs it.

Console commands: what is documented and what is not
A third-party guide lists the following commands, but the list is from a single unconfirmed source. Command names and availability should therefore be tested on a non-critical server and checked against the console behavior of your exact version.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
| Command | Purpose described by the guide | Confidence and caution |
|---|---|---|
quit, stop, exit |
Stop or leave the server process. | Listed by one third-party guide; verify which alias your build accepts before using it on a live session. |
server.SaveGame |
Trigger a server save. | Listed by one third-party guide; confirm the resulting save timestamp before maintenance. |
FG.AutosaveInterval |
Set or inspect the autosave interval. | Syntax and units are not established in the available material; do not assume a value or unit. |
server.GenerateAPIToken |
Generate an API token. | Listed by one third-party guide. Treat generated tokens as credentials. |
server.InvalidateAPITokens |
Invalidate existing API tokens. | Use when a token may have been exposed; verify that automation is expected to stop. |
FG.DedicatedServer.AllowInsecureLocalAccess |
Allow insecure local access. | Security-sensitive and unconfirmed. Do not enable it on an internet-facing server without understanding the exposure. |
The same guide says it found no commands for kicking, banning, giving items, or teleporting players. That is not proof that another build or tool cannot provide such functions; it means you should not assume those commands exist in the standard console.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Reset a forgotten administrator password
If you cannot authenticate as an administrator, the documented recovery approach is to delete the server’s ServerSettings.PORT.sav file, where PORT is the server port. For a server using port 7777, the example filename is ServerSettings.7777.sav. The file is stored above the save directory, not inside the folder containing the world saves.
- Stop the dedicated server cleanly and ensure no server process is still writing files.
- Make a backup of the entire server data directory, including the save directory and the settings file.
- Identify the settings file whose port number matches the server entry, such as
ServerSettings.7777.sav. - Move that file out of the server directory (a backup location is safer than immediate permanent deletion).
- Start the server again and reconnect through Server Manager.
- Claim the server with a new name and administrator password.
Removing the settings file has side effects. It clears the server name, the player password, the automatically loaded session, and the server certificate, in addition to the administrator credential. You must configure those items again after re-claiming. A question-and-answer report says this reset is not guaranteed, so retain the backup and be prepared to restore it if the server does not start as expected.
Automating administration with the HTTPS API
The HTTPS API can accept the administrator password in plaintext as part of a claim request. “Plaintext” here describes the request value, not a recommendation to transmit it over an unencrypted connection: use the HTTPS endpoint exactly as documented, protect the host, and keep request logs from recording the password. The API can help automate a claim or management workflow after you have established administrative credentials.

If the password is lost, use the settings-file recovery procedure instead; generating or invalidating an API token does not replace the administrator password.
Quick Recap
- Restrict access to any script or service that stores the password.
- Do not paste the password into public issue reports or chat.
- Invalidate API tokens if one is exposed, then create a replacement through your secured administrative workflow.
- Test automation against a disposable server before applying it to a world that contains important progress.
Port and connection troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely check | Corrective action |
|---|---|---|
| Server Manager cannot connect at all | Address, port, firewall, or server process. | Confirm the process is running, verify the exact IP and configured port, and check that the necessary firewall or router rule points to the server host. |
| Local connection works but remote players fail | Routing or port forwarding. | Verify that the externally reachable address is being used and that the router forwards the configured game port to the correct machine. Do not assume 7777 if the server was configured differently. |
| The server appears but the claim screen never completes | Version mismatch or stale server state. | Confirm client and server builds, restart the server, and retry. If the password was previously set, this is not a new claim; use the administrator credential or the documented reset procedure. |
| Players can join but cannot load saves or change options | They have player access, not administrator access. | Have an existing administrator grant the account administrative access. A join password alone does not confer privileges. |
| After a password reset, the old name or join password disappeared | Expected side effect of removing the settings file. | Re-enter the server name, set a new administrator password, configure the player password if needed, and select the session to load. |
| Automation stopped after token maintenance | API tokens were invalidated. | Update the automation with a newly generated token and confirm that the password remains protected. |
A safe operating checklist
- Record the exact Satisfactory version, server version, address, and configured port.
- Back up the save directory before changing sessions, settings files, or automation.
- Keep administrator and player passwords separate.
- Limit administrator access to trusted accounts and remove it when no longer required.
- Confirm a save completed before stopping or switching sessions.
- Use only ports required by the current server configuration; verify references to 7777, 15777, or TCP 8888 against current documentation.
- Test unconfirmed console commands on a disposable instance.
- Protect API passwords and tokens, and invalidate tokens that may have leaked.
- After deleting a
ServerSettings.PORT.savfile, reconfigure every setting that file stored.
Quick reference: the complete workflow
- Check that client and server updates match.
- Obtain the reachable IP address and the server’s actual game port.
- Open Server Manager from the main menu and add the address and port.
- Connect and, if the server is unclaimed, set its name and administrator password.
- Create a new game or load/import the intended save.
- Set a separate player password only if you want to restrict joining.
- Grant administrator access only to trusted accounts.
- Use the in-game management controls for saves and options; treat third-party console lists as unconfirmed.
- If the administrator password is lost, stop the server, back up its files, move the matching
ServerSettings.PORT.savfile from above the save directory, restart, and claim again.
