You can use the Lenovo Idea Tab Plus as a laptop’s second screen by streaming the computer’s display to an Android app. For a Windows laptop, the clearest documented option is spacedesk: install its driver on Windows, install its viewer on the tablet, then connect the devices over a reachable network. The tablet’s USB-C port is specified for USB 2.0 data and charging, not video input, so a basic USB-C-to-HDMI cable is not a supported way to turn it into a conventional monitor.
What you need and what to expect
The setup below is for a Windows 10 or Windows 11 laptop and an Idea Tab Plus running Android. spacedesk uses a Windows driver to capture and transmit the computer’s screen to a viewer device; its Android viewer can show an extended or duplicated desktop. Lenovo’s listed Idea Tab Plus model has a 12.1-inch, 2560 × 1600 IPS display with a 90 Hz refresh rate, but those specifications can vary by SKU or region. Check your exact model before assuming every listed specification applies.

This is a software-streamed display, not a native video input. Lenovo describes the tablet’s USB-C port as Hi-Speed USB/USB 2.0 with charging and does not specify video input. Streaming quality and responsiveness depend on the connection and software configuration; the available sources do not give measured latency, streamed resolution, color accuracy, or frame rate for this tablet-and-app combination.

Install the Windows driver. On the laptop, download and install the spacedesk DRIVER from the official spacedesk site. spacedesk lists Windows 10 and Windows 11 as supported primary machines in its requirements and manual.

Install the Android viewer. On the Idea Tab Plus, install and open spacedesk VIEWER for Android. The vendor describes Android devices as viewer devices in its download information.

Connect both devices. Put the laptop and tablet on a TCP/IP network that allows them to reach each other. In the viewer, select the laptop/server when it appears, or connect using the server address if needed. spacedesk documents screen transmission over LAN/TCP-IP in its manual.

Choose an extended or duplicated desktop. In Windows, open Settings > System > Display. Select the display arrangement option and choose whether to extend or duplicate the desktop; drag the display diagrams to match where the tablet sits relative to the laptop. The exact controls shown can vary by Windows version. This is the expected Windows workflow for a virtual display; Lenovo or spacedesk do not provide Idea Tab Plus-specific screenshots.

Choose a connection that works on your network
spacedesk lists Wi-Fi, USB, and network cable as possible connection approaches. A shared Wi-Fi network is usually the most straightforward to try because it does not require a direct wired link. If the devices do not discover each other, check that both are on a reachable network and that the laptop’s firewall or network policy is not blocking the connection.
Although spacedesk lists USB as an option, that does not establish that every USB cable, driver, or configuration works with the Idea Tab Plus. Lenovo’s port specification alone does not confirm a model-specific USB display path. Do not assume plugging in a cable will produce a picture; use the vendor’s instructions for the chosen connection method.
Can Lenovo Smart Connect do this?
Lenovo’s Smart Connect support page describes using a tablet as a secondary PC display and choosing “Extend PC display” for its supported Idea Tab / Tab K11 Gen 2 context. That page does not name the Idea Tab Plus, so it does not confirm that the feature is available on every Idea Tab Plus or laptop.

A third-party video published on March 5, 2026, shows a Smart Connect pairing flow on an Idea Tab Plus, including QR pairing and an Extend PC Display choice. Treat that as an example from a particular device and software setup, not as manufacturer confirmation. If Smart Connect is already available on your exact tablet and PC, you can check its on-screen options; otherwise, spacedesk is the more clearly documented general route in the sources cited here.
If the tablet does not appear as a display

Confirm that the spacedesk driver is installed and running on the Windows laptop and that the Android viewer is open on the tablet.

Check that the devices can communicate over the same reachable TCP/IP network. A guest Wi-Fi network or restrictive firewall may prevent device discovery.

Open Windows Settings > System > Display after connecting and check whether the virtual display is available to extend or duplicate.

If you are trying USB, consult spacedesk’s connection instructions rather than assuming the tablet’s USB-C port carries video. The published specifications do not establish Idea Tab Plus-specific USB compatibility.

What this setup is—and is not
With a compatible Windows setup, the Idea Tab Plus can serve as a streamed secondary display through software. It is not documented here as a plug-and-play USB-C monitor, and no published measurement cited here establishes how closely the streamed result matches a dedicated monitor in responsiveness or image quality. A stand may make the tablet more comfortable to use beside a laptop, but it is optional and does not affect the connection.
