On a Samsung phone with an ultra-wide camera, the 0.5x option selects a wider view so more of a scene can fit in the frame. To try it, open the Camera app and tap 0.5x if the option appears. Its availability and exact controls depend on the phone; not every Samsung model is confirmed to offer it.
What 0.5x means on a Samsung camera
Here, “0.5” means a 0.5x camera view described as ultra-wide. It is a wider framing choice—not a claim that the scene or the resulting photo is literally half-sized. A wider view can include more of what is in front of the camera.

How to switch to 0.5x
- Open the Camera app.
- Look for and tap 0.5x, if your phone offers that option.
- Frame the scene in the wider view and take the photo.
These are general steps, not a verified model-specific menu path. Camera controls can vary by phone and software version.

Landscapes
Use the wider framing when you want to include more of a landscape without moving farther from the scene.

A wider view can help fit more people into a group photo when stepping back is difficult.
Architecture
When photographing a building or other architectural subject from nearby, the wider view can include more of it in the frame.

Tips for better 0.5x photos
- Look for natural light. Consider how the available light falls on the scene before taking the photo.
- Check the edges and foreground. A wider frame can bring extra objects into view; use foreground elements deliberately rather than letting them distract.
- Keep the horizon straight. Check the frame before shooting, especially for landscapes.
- Hold the phone steadily. A tripod is an optional aid if you want additional stability, not a requirement.
If you cannot find the 0.5x option
The available guidance does not establish a definitive list of Samsung models or software versions that support this view. Check the camera specifications or manual for your exact phone to see whether it has an ultra-wide camera. Do not assume that every Samsung phone includes 0.5x just because it is a Samsung.
