How to Use Streamlabs Talk Studio for a Prerecorded YouTube Countdown and Loop

Streamlabs Talk Studio can schedule a prerecorded YouTube video, but its documented loop controls apply to audio, not video. Here’s how to schedule a finished countdown-and-repeat file.

You can schedule a prerecorded YouTube video in Streamlabs Talk Studio by connecting YouTube, choosing Schedule → +Schedule → Pre-recorded video, uploading your finished video, entering the event details, and scheduling it. If the video needs a countdown followed by repeated content, put those sections in order in one exported video before uploading. Streamlabs documents looping for background audio, but its available instructions do not establish a control for looping prerecorded video.

What Talk Studio can—and cannot—do for a countdown loop

Talk Studio provides a scheduled prerecorded-video workflow: choose YouTube, upload a video, enter the event details, and schedule it. Its Screen Sharing guide also lists MP4 video as shareable during a live session. That same guide explicitly describes looping for background audio, not for video. Do not assume that an audio loop setting will repeat an MP4. See Streamlabs’ prerecorded-video guide and Talk Studio Screen Sharing guide.

For a countdown that leads into a repeated segment, the documented-workflow-compatible workaround is to make one continuous video file containing the countdown and the repeated section, then upload that finished file. This is a preparation workaround inferred from the upload workflow, not a Streamlabs-documented video-loop feature. The available guidance does not establish that Talk Studio will automatically restart a scheduled prerecorded video.

Schedule a prerecorded YouTube video

  1. Connect your YouTube channel. In Talk Studio, open the profile menu, select Account Settings, then Destinations → Add Destination. Follow the prompts to connect YouTube. You need to connect it before it can be selected for an event. The steps are in Streamlabs’ Talk Studio Getting Started guide.
  2. Open the scheduling flow. Go to Schedule and choose +Schedule.
  3. Select YouTube and the prerecorded option. Choose YouTube as the destination, then select Pre-recorded video.
  4. Upload the finished video. Choose the file you prepared for the event. The prerecorded-video guide describes uploading a video, but does not state a file-size or duration limit for this workflow.
  5. Enter the event details. Add the title, description, date and time, and thumbnail, then choose Schedule. Streamlabs documents this sequence in its How to Live Stream Pre-Recorded Video guide, published October 15, 2021 and updated April 25, 2025.

Build the countdown and repeat into one video

If the sequence must play as countdown → program segment → same segment again, create that sequence in a video editor and export it as one continuous file before opening the Talk Studio upload flow. For example, a file could contain a five-minute countdown followed by the program segment repeated twice. The number and duration of repeats are choices for your edit; they are not Talk Studio settings.

  • Check the exported file from beginning to end so the transitions occur where intended.
  • Make sure any music, footage, or other material in the video is content you have permission to use. The cited Talk Studio instructions explain scheduling and sharing, not YouTube copyright or monetization eligibility; they do not establish that a particular countdown or repeated-content format is eligible for monetization.
  • Do not rely on the scheduled-video upload to repeat the file after it finishes. The available instructions do not document that behavior.

Choose between scheduling and screen sharing

Workflow What the cited instructions establish Important distinction
Scheduled prerecorded event Select Pre-recorded video, upload the file, enter event details, and schedule it. The guide does not document an automatic video-repeat control or state a file-size or duration cap.
Share an MP4 during a live Talk Studio session The Screen Sharing guide lists MP4 video as shareable. It also describes automatic looping for one selected background-audio track. The looping directions concern audio, not video. Screen sharing is not supported on mobile devices.

These workflows are not documented as interchangeable: the scheduled event has its own upload-and-schedule steps, while MP4 sharing is part of a live session. The screen-sharing details and mobile limitation are in Streamlabs’ Screen Sharing guide, published April 7, 2023 and updated October 29, 2025.

Limits that apply to other Talk Studio features

Streamlabs lists upload maximums of 150 MB for Standard and 300 MB for Pro for intro and outro clips. Those are limits for that separate feature, not established limits for scheduled prerecorded videos. Do not use them to estimate the maximum size of a scheduled upload. See the Talk Studio Intros & Outros guide, updated September 16, 2025.

Troubleshoot the workflow

  • YouTube is missing from the destination list: connect it first using Account Settings → Destinations → Add Destination, then return to Schedule.
  • You cannot find a video-loop toggle: the cited instructions do not establish one for prerecorded video. Edit the countdown and repeated segment into one continuous upload instead.
  • Your background audio repeats, but the video does not: the documented automatic loop applies to a selected audio track. It should not be taken as evidence that the MP4 loops.
  • You are trying to share the MP4 from a phone or tablet: Streamlabs says mobile devices do not support screen sharing. Use the documented scheduled-upload route or a supported device for screen sharing.
  • You are unsure how large or long the scheduled upload may be: the retrieved prerecorded-video guide does not state a size or duration cap. The intro/outro limits are for a different feature, so they do not answer this question.
