Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minutePut Selenium test code, dependency and runner configuration, and concise setup instructions in source control so a teammate can clone the project, install its dependencies, and run the same tests. Keep test intent readable, isolate reusable page-specific interactions where useful, and make deliberate choices about test data and secrets. There is no universal Selenium repository layout: the right files and commands depend on your language and test runner.
What to put in the repository
A Selenium project is more than a directory of test files. Contributors need the language runtime and Selenium binding, a way to install the project’s dependencies, a test runner configuration, and access to a browser. Selenium bindings use Selenium Manager by default to manage browser and driver setup, although a team’s environment may impose additional requirements.
Commit the files needed to describe and reproduce the project, such as:
- Test source code and any page objects or shared test helpers.
- The language-specific dependency manifest or build configuration and, where appropriate, its lockfile.
- Test-runner configuration and project-specific browser settings.
- A README with prerequisites, dependency-install steps, test commands, and notes about required environment variables or test services.
- Small, non-sensitive fixtures required to understand or run the tests.
Do not copy a directory tree from another Selenium project as if it were a standard. Java projects using Maven or Gradle, Python projects using pytest, and .NET projects have different configuration and execution conventions. Make the repository reflect the stack the team actually uses.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Document a repeatable clone, install, and run workflow
A new contributor should be able to follow the project’s README without guessing which command is intended. State the required language/runtime version, how to install dependencies, any project-specific browser or driver constraints, and the normal test command. Selenium Manager is the default browser-and-driver management mechanism in Selenium bindings, but explain any local or CI exception your project has chosen.
Use commands for your project’s runner
Selenium’s execution examples include these runner-specific commands:

These are examples, not interchangeable commands. Use the command that matches the checked-in build and test-runner configuration; for .NET or another stack, document the command that the project actually uses. Also document how to select one test or test class when the chosen runner supports it, including any relevant selector syntax. Avoid promising that one test-selection flag works across runners.
A useful README sequence is: clone the repository, install dependencies, configure any required environment values, then run the normal test command. Include expected prerequisites and known setup constraints so that a successful run is not dependent on undocumented machine state.

Organize tests around behavior and page mechanics
Keep each test focused on a user-visible behavior: establish the necessary state, perform a discrete set of actions, and check the outcome. Selenium’s guidance notes that functional end-user tests can be expensive to run and require substantial infrastructure. Use browser tests where browser behavior matters; use a lighter testing level when it can answer the question adequately.
Use page objects when they reduce duplication
A page object can centralize knowledge of a page’s structure and the interactions it offers. For example, a login page object might own the username and password locators and a reusable sign-in action, while a test describes the scenario and verifies whether the expected result occurred. If a locator changes, keeping it in one useful place can avoid editing many tests.

Page objects are an organizational technique, not a requirement to wrap every browser operation. Keep them small enough to make page behavior understandable. In the general case, leave outcome assertions in test code so the test’s intent and expected result remain visible; page objects should represent a page and its services rather than conceal the test’s verdict.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Make test data and sensitive values deliberate
Decide as a team which test inputs belong in version control. Small deterministic fixtures can make a scenario understandable and reproducible; document how to refresh or generate data when it is too large or environment-specific to commit. A spreadsheet used by data-driven tests is still part of the project’s reproducibility story: either version a safe fixture or document how contributors obtain an equivalent dataset.

Keep credentials and sensitive live data out of ordinary committed files. Use the team’s approved secret-management or environment-configuration approach, and document the variable names and setup steps without publishing their values. Selenium does not prescribe one universal policy for spreadsheets, fixtures, or secrets, so make the decision explicit for the project rather than treating a particular file layout as an official rule.
Use source control as a team handoff
Before sharing a change, run the documented tests relevant to it and include any new dependency, configuration, or fixture in the same change. Update the README when a prerequisite or command changes. A clone-install-run sequence helps teammates reproduce the project; branching conventions, review requirements, CI provider, and merge policy should be documented only when the team has selected them.
Source control preserves the project’s evolving code and configuration, but it does not by itself guarantee identical browser environments, test accounts, or external services. Record the assumptions that matter to your tests and keep setup instructions aligned with what contributors and automation actually need.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server, not a replacement for Selenium test execution. If your immediate task is to capture a page image or PDF rather than exercise browser behavior in a test, one GET request can return the screenshot. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for options and setup.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
It accepts cookie and consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents and MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
