Check whether your iPhone can use Siri AI
Apple’s current iPhone guide lists an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or iPhone 16 model or later, with iOS 27 or later. Newer models may also qualify; check Apple’s compatibility information for the live device list.

Siri AI starts in English, and both Siri and the iPhone’s device language must be set to a supported language. Apple Intelligence supports a broader set of languages, but that does not mean every feature is available in every language. Apple also says its new Apple Intelligence features are currently unavailable in China mainland while regulatory requirements are addressed. Siri AI is initially unavailable on iOS in the European Union.

Apple’s September 14, 2026 rollout announcement identifies iPhone Duo, iPhone Air, iPhone 16 models or later, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max among devices eligible for Apple Intelligence and Siri AI. Because the support guide gives the clearest iPhone setup baseline, check Apple’s live compatibility page if you have a newer model or are unsure about eligibility.

Turn on Siri AI (Beta)
- Update your iPhone to iOS 27 or later, if it is eligible.
- Open Settings > Siri.
- Tap Try Siri AI (Beta) and complete the onscreen setup. If Siri is off, tap Turn on Siri first, then choose Try Siri AI (Beta).
If the option is missing, check the iPhone model, iOS version, Siri and device language, and country availability. Those requirements can prevent the setup option from appearing.
What you can do with Siri AI
Ask questions using personal context
Ask Siri to find information in sources such as Photos, Mail, Messages, or Calendar. Apple’s guide gives examples such as finding photos from a trip or checking a pickup time. These are documented examples of intended capabilities; verify details before relying on the result.

Ask about what is on your screen
While viewing something such as an image or PDF, invoke Siri and ask about the content. You can follow up with another request—for example, ask what a pictured item is or how it is made, then ask for a related recipe.

Use Siri mode in Camera
With Camera open, tap Siri to switch to Siri mode, point the camera at a subject, and tap Ask. Siri may suggest actions based on the scene. On supported models, you can also click and hold Camera Control while the iPhone is locked to open this mode; using the Camera app is the alternative when that hardware control is unavailable.

Describe the writing task, such as proofreading a note or drafting an itinerary, then refine the result with follow-up requests.
Return to a conversation
Open the Siri app to select an earlier conversation or start a new one.

How Siri AI differs from other Apple Intelligence features
Apple Intelligence is a collection of features, including writing and image tools as well as Siri. Siri AI is the beta conversational assistant described here. Apple’s separate iOS 26 guide for visual intelligence covers camera-based actions such as looking up a business, creating a calendar event from a poster or flyer, and finding visually similar images. Its instructions and launch options are version-specific, so use the current Siri AI guide for iOS 27 setup.
Beta limits, accuracy, and access
Siri AI is a beta feature, and Apple cautions that generative results can vary. Check important facts and personal-context results rather than treating them as guaranteed accurate. Some Apple Intelligence features that use server-side models, including Siri AI, may have daily usage limits. Apple says limits can vary with the feature, request complexity, system demand, and policy. Its current support materials say expanded access is expected to be available for a fee in the future; they do not establish a current price or subscription requirement to enable the beta.
