Sign in to the website in your browser, open the page you are authorized to view, wait for it to finish loading, then click SingleFile in the browser toolbar. SingleFile saves the page shown in the current tab; it does not log you in, supply credentials, or bypass access controls. The exact result depends on the site and browser.
What SingleFile can capture from a logged-in page
SingleFile is a browser extension and command-line tool for saving a web page as one HTML file. The browser-extension workflow captures the current tab. It aims to include page content such as CSS, images, fonts, and frames, but a successful save does not guarantee that every resource or dynamic element will be present.

The page must already be available to you in the browser. SingleFile operates on what the browser and site expose in that session; it is not a method for defeating a login, paywall, MFA check, or other access control. Keep only content you are authorized to access and store.

Save a page after signing in
- Install SingleFile from the extension store for your browser—supported channels include Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge—and make sure the extension is enabled.
- Sign in to the site normally and navigate to the exact page you want to keep. Confirm that the intended content, rather than a sign-in screen or access challenge, is visible.
- Wait until the page has finished loading. If content appears after the initial navigation, such as images or text loaded as you scroll, wait for that content too. The Chrome extension listing specifically advises waiting for the page to be fully loaded before clicking SingleFile.
- Click the SingleFile toolbar button. The browser saves the resulting HTML file using its configured download location.
- Open the saved file and check the text and important images. Treat it as a saved page, not a guaranteed working offline copy of the original site.
What may not survive the save
Missing images, fonts, or other resources
SingleFile can include resources available on the page, including resources that are present but not already cached or displayed. If an image is absent, first check that the page finished loading and that the image was actually available in the browser. The FAQ documents a referer-header option for sites that require a referer to fetch images; it is a targeted option, not a general fix for missing page content.

Scripts and interactive features
Scripts are removed by default because they can alter rendering, and the project FAQ cautions that there is no guarantee they will work offline if retained. The FAQ identifies settings for changing script blocking and content or style handling. Adjusting them may be worth trying when you need to preserve dynamic behavior, but it does not make an interactive offline copy reliable.
Browser-protected pages
Browsers block extensions on certain domains for security reasons. If SingleFile cannot run on a page, that restriction does not by itself mean your login is invalid. The SingleFile FAQ gives Mozilla Add-ons as an example of a domain where extensions may be blocked.

Troubleshooting
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| SingleFile will not run on the page | The browser may prohibit extensions on that domain. | Check that the extension is enabled, then try only on a page where the browser permits it. Do not try to circumvent the browser restriction. |
| The saved file shows a login page or challenge | The session may have expired, or the intended page may not have loaded in the tab. | Return to the site, verify that the authorized session is active and the desired content is visible, then capture again. The official guidance does not establish a universal fix for MFA, paywalls, bot challenges, or site-specific login flows. |
| Some images or other resources are missing | The page may not have finished loading, or a resource may not have been available to the browser. | Wait for the resource to appear before saving. For images on sites that require it, consult SingleFile’s referer-header setting; it will not solve unrelated failures. |
| Buttons, maps, or carousels do not work in the saved file | Scripts are removed by default, and retained scripts are not guaranteed to work offline. | If interactivity matters, review SingleFile’s script-blocking and content/style settings and test the result. Expect that the feature may still depend on the original site. |
When a screenshot is enough instead of a saved HTML file
If you need a visual record rather than a reusable HTML archive, ScreenshotNeo is a screenshot API and MCP server. It does not automatically reuse the login session in your personal browser. For pages that require authentication, use only an authorized setup and provide the relevant authentication inputs supported by its API; the example below is a basic request and does not itself supply login credentials. A screenshot is not a substitute for SingleFile when you need an HTML file.

For a page the service can access, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for API options, including custom headers, cookies, and authorization.
