Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallUse Python Requests to send Screenshotlayer’s capture endpoint your access key and a fully qualified target URL, then check the response before saving it as an image. The example below requests a full-page PNG and includes a timeout and a content-type guard so an API error is not mistaken for a screenshot.
Send a Screenshotlayer request with Python Requests
Screenshotlayer documents the capture endpoint as https://api.screenshotlayer.com/api/capture. Supply an access_key and a target url that includes https:// or http://. The following integration pattern uses the documented endpoint and parameters with Python Requests; it has not been tested against a live account.
import os
from pathlib import Path
import requests
endpoint = "https://api.screenshotlayer.com/api/capture"
params = {
"access_key": os.environ["SCREENSHOTLAYER_ACCESS_KEY"],
"url": "https://example.com",
"fullpage": "1",
"viewport": "1440x900",
"format": "PNG",
}
response = requests.get(endpoint, params=params, timeout=60)
response.raise_for_status()
content_type = response.headers.get("content-type", "")
if not content_type.startswith("image/"):
raise RuntimeError(
f"Expected image response, received {content_type!r}: {response.text}"
)
Path("screenshot.png").write_bytes(response.content)
Install Requests if it is not already available with python -m pip install requests. Set the key in the environment rather than pasting it into the script: for example, on macOS or Linux, run export SCREENSHOTLAYER_ACCESS_KEY="your-key" in the shell before running the Python file. Keep the key out of source control and client-side code; the API sends it as a query parameter.
On a successful image response, the code writes the returned bytes to screenshot.png. The guard checks for an image content type before writing; response conventions, status-code mappings, and streaming guidance are not fully established in the public documentation, so confirm behavior for your account and handle any documented error payloads accordingly.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose capture parameters
Pass options as key-value entries in the dictionary given to Requests’ params argument. These are query parameters; Requests handles URL encoding.
| Parameter | What it controls |
|---|---|
access_key |
Required account credential. Registered users can find or reset it in the account dashboard. |
url |
Required target page address. Include the protocol, such as https://. |
fullpage |
Use 1 to request a full-height page capture. |
viewport |
Sets browser viewport dimensions; the documented default is 1440x900. |
width |
Requests a thumbnail width in pixels. |
format |
The API specification gives PNG as the default. The FAQ lists PNG, JPEG, and GIF; the pricing page advertises WebP for paid plans. Confirm current availability for your plan before relying on a particular format. |
delay |
Waits a specified number of seconds before capture, which can help when animations or effects need time to finish. |
ttl |
Sets cache time in seconds. The API specification gives 2,592,000 seconds (30 days) as the default; the FAQ says a custom TTL can be lower. |
force |
Requests a fresh capture rather than relying on a cached result. |
css_url, placeholder |
Customize page styling or the loading placeholder. |
user_agent, accept_lang |
Customize the user agent or accepted language sent for the page request. |
secret_key |
Listed among the API specification’s options; consult the current provider documentation for its account-specific use. |
export |
The specification describes export using custom FTP or AWS S3 details. |
For example, to request a narrower thumbnail and allow five seconds for page effects, add "width": "500" and "delay": "5" to params. To use JPEG instead, set "format": "JPG" only after confirming the accepted value for your account in the current API documentation.

Check access, HTTPS, and account limits
Screenshotlayer’s FAQ says the free plan includes 100 monthly snapshots and paid plans start at USD 19.99 per month. Its pricing page describes plan-specific request volumes and features, with possible overage fees after quota. These provider-listed terms were reviewed on 2026-10-03 and can change; check the pricing page for current quotas, pricing, HTTPS eligibility, output formats, and overage rules. The provider FAQ describes HTTPS as a paid-plan feature, so verify that your account supports the secure endpoint before using it.
Plan choice may also depend on commercial-use permission, customization and format needs, dedicated workers or concurrency, and export options—not just monthly volume. Screenshotlayer describes its API uptime as “around 99.9%,” but says it does not offer public statistics; treat that as the provider’s claim, not independently verified uptime.

Troubleshoot common failures
- Missing or invalid access key: check that the environment variable is set correctly and that the key is current in your account dashboard. Do not include accidental whitespace when setting it.
- Usage limit reached: check the account’s remaining quota and plan terms. The provider lists quota exhaustion as an API error, and its pricing page says overage fees may apply after plan limits.
- Invalid URL: pass a complete target URL with its protocol, such as
https://example.com, not only a domain name. - The script raises on the HTTP response: inspect the response status and body using the conventions documented for your account. The API specification describes an error structure with
success: falseand anerrorobject containing a code, type, and explanatory information, but the reviewed public docs do not establish every status-code mapping. - Response is not an image: do not save it as a PNG by assumption. Print or log the content type and inspect the response body for an API error before writing a file.
- HTTPS endpoint is unavailable: confirm HTTPS support for your plan with the provider; the FAQ identifies it as a paid-plan feature.
- Page content is missing or visually incomplete: try a documented delay for animations or effects, confirm the URL is reachable, and verify viewport and full-page settings. A delay adds waiting time to each request.
Or skip the browser setup
If you want a screenshot API with cleanup and response billing signals included, ScreenshotNeo accepts one GET request for a URL and can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Its cookie-consent handling accepts banners like a visitor and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers say which page verdict and billing outcome applied. An MCP server exposes screenshot tools to Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
Here is the Python one-call pattern (replace the target URL as needed). See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options.
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
ScreenshotNeo’s free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan.
