To use ProPresenter for live streaming, choose the screen your audience should see, add a camera input if the stream needs live video, route the right audio, and send ProPresenter’s capture to an RTMP destination or its documented Resi integration. ProPresenter supplies the presentation and capture; the destination and any camera or capture hardware depend on your production setup.
Plan what the stream should show
Decide whether viewers should see slides and presentation media, a camera, or a production that combines them. ProPresenter captures one configured screen at a time, so the content and layers assigned to that screen determine what reaches the stream. See Renewed Vision’s screen configuration guide.
- Open Screens > Configure Screens.
- Configure an Audience screen for crowd-facing slides, media, and presentation layers. A Stage screen is intended for performers or operators and may contain stage-specific information.
- Connect the configured screen to the appropriate physical or digital output if your production needs one. A screen is a ProPresenter configuration; an output sends it to a destination.
- Choose the intended screen and Look for capture. Check which layers are visible to the audience before sending the feed live.
Do not select a Stage screen merely because it is available: its content may be designed for people on stage rather than remote viewers. Configuration options can vary by installed release; Renewed Vision’s reviewed user guide identifies its content as current through ProPresenter 7.12, so confirm menu names in your version. ProPresenter User Guide
Add a camera only if the stream needs live video
A camera does not automatically become part of the captured presentation. First bring its video into ProPresenter as a Video Input, then place or trigger that input in the intended screen or presentation. Renewed Vision documents USB capture devices, SDI interfaces, NDI sources, and Syphon on macOS; compatibility depends on the camera output, operating system, connectors, resolution, and production setup. Its examples include Elgato CamLink for USB capture and DeckLink Duo for SDI, not universal device recommendations. See Setting Up A Video Input in ProPresenter.

- Select the source and configure its video and any associated audio as needed.
- Use the input from the Video Input Playlist or place it on a slide/action, then confirm that it appears on the screen selected for capture.
Some setups are presentation-only and need no camera, capture card, or other video-input hardware. Check device compatibility and test the full signal path before an event.
Route audio for the stream, not just the room
Choose whether the stream should receive ProPresenter media audio, a dedicated console mix, or both. The sound heard in the venue may not be the right mix for remote viewers, and sending the same playback audio through both a console return and ProPresenter can create doubled sound. Capture Settings include audio-routing controls; monitor the resulting stream mix and sync during rehearsal.

Renewed Vision documents one specific simultaneous house-and-stream example: assign the console return to ProPresenter internal channels 3 and 4, select those channels for capture, and disable channels 1 and 2 for capture so media already routed to the house console is not duplicated. This is an example topology, not a universal channel assignment. Follow the routing appropriate to your console and signal flow. Renewed Vision’s audio-routing example
Choose a streaming destination and configure capture
Send the capture to an RTMP destination
ProPresenter 7 documentation describes RTMP streaming and recording. To use RTMP, obtain the server address and stream key from the destination provider, then enter them in the relevant capture settings. Provider-specific ingest instructions are not established here, so use the current instructions from the service receiving the stream. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish or share it. Capture Settings can be opened from Screens > Capture Settings or the Live button. Select the configured Audience or Stage screen, set capture parameters for the destination, and enable recording as needed. The documented workflow captures one ProPresenter screen at a time. Use the documented Resi integration
Renewed Vision also documents a Resi streaming integration. After setting up the account and integration, select Resi as the destination in ProPresenter; the stream is sent to Resi for processing and delivery to configured destinations. Check current Resi account requirements, destination availability, and service terms with Resi. The ProPresenter instructions are not a current pricing or service comparison. Rehearse, start, and monitor
- Confirm the destination details and stream key, and verify the intended configured screen is selected.
- Check the active Look and layers, camera visibility if used, and audio routing. Listen to the stream output rather than relying only on the room mix.
- Run a test before the event when the destination and production schedule allow. Confirm that the receiving service gets the intended picture and sound.
- Start streaming from Capture Settings, the Live button, or Screens > Start Streaming. The guide describes a capture progress indicator in the Preview window.
- Monitor the captured output and destination during the event; correct the source, screen, or audio routing if the received feed is wrong.
Common problems and what to check
- The stream shows the wrong content: Check the captured screen selection, Audience versus Stage configuration, active Look, and visible layers. Capture uses one ProPresenter screen at a time.
- The camera is missing: Confirm the device is connected and recognized, the Video Input source is configured under Settings > Inputs, and the input has been added to the screen or presentation being captured.
- The stream has no sound or the wrong sound: Verify Capture Settings audio routing and the selected source. If using a console return, check its assigned channels and whether media audio is being sent twice.
- The destination does not receive the stream: Recheck the RTMP server address and stream key against the destination provider’s current instructions, and confirm you selected the intended capture destination.
- Menus or hardware do not match these steps: The reviewed user-guide content is identified as current through ProPresenter 7.12. Consult the guide for your installed version and verify input-device compatibility with its manufacturer.
Or let it run in the cloud
ProPresenter is a presentation and capture workflow for a live production. If your separate goal is keeping uploaded videos looping as a 24/7 YouTube live stream, StreamNeo is a different option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It runs in the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home; the uploaded quality streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos rather than going live from a camera. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start your free day.
