To loop one Sanskrit shloka recording in OBS, add it as a Media Source, select the file, and enable Loop. For multiple recordings, add them as a playlist with the VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. Then connect OBS to YouTube with the stream URL and stream key, check the preview, and start the broadcast.
Before you set up the stream
- Make sure your YouTube channel is verified and has no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. YouTube may take up to 24 hours to activate live streaming the first time on a channel. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming
- Use a recording you have permission to rebroadcast. Check rights for the recording itself, the performance and arrangement, and any accompanying artwork or video. A Sanskrit text’s traditional or public-domain status does not by itself establish that a particular modern recording is free to use.
- Have the audio or video file available on the computer running OBS. OBS documents media-source support for formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV. OBS: Media Sources
Choose a single-file loop or a playlist

Both options loop prerecorded media; the documented controls do not establish that either produces better stream quality. Use Media Source for one clip, and VLC Video when you need a sequence of files or playlist controls. OBS: Media Sources

Set up OBS to loop one shloka file
- Open or create the OBS scene that will carry the broadcast.
- In the Sources panel, select + and choose Media Source. Give the source a clear name, such as “Shloka recording,” and confirm.
- In the source properties, select Browse and choose your local audio or video file.
- Enable Loop, then confirm the properties. Restart playback when source becomes active is a separate property and is enabled by default in OBS’s documented settings.
- Check the OBS preview. Confirm the sound is audible and at a suitable level; if the file has visuals or text, make sure they are visible and readable in the scene.
Set up a playlist of shlokas
- Install VLC if it is not already installed. Match its architecture to OBS: 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- In the OBS scene’s Sources panel, select + and choose VLC Video.
- In the source properties, add the files in the order you want them played, or select the playlist you prepared.
- Enable Loop Playlist and confirm.
- Play the source and inspect the preview. Check that each recording appears in the expected order and that the playlist returns to its beginning after the final file.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and create or select an encoder stream in the Live Control Room. If live streaming has not previously been enabled, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key provided by YouTube. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and enter the connection details. Depending on the service selection, OBS may offer a sign-in flow rather than requiring manual entry.
- Keep the stream key private. It is the credential OBS uses to send your feed to YouTube. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS with the replacement key.
- Start streaming from OBS. Wait for the incoming feed and preview to appear in YouTube’s Live Control Room; check the picture and sound there before starting the public broadcast.
- When the preview is correct, start the broadcast in YouTube Studio if the stream is not set to go live automatically. Monitor stream health and audio/video quality while it is live.

Choose encoder and network settings
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists RTMP or RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR) encoding, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. Choose resolution and frame rate to suit both the source material and your available upload capacity; higher output settings require more bandwidth. Follow YouTube’s current guidance for the resolution and frame rate you intend to use rather than choosing a bitrate that your connection cannot sustain. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom in network guidance. Treat that as platform guidance, not a guarantee: use a stable connection, avoid saturating your upload, and check stream health in the Live Control Room. YouTube Help: Create a live stream with an encoder

Test and monitor the broadcast
- Before going public, test that the recording starts, loops, and has the expected sound and visuals in OBS.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before starting the public broadcast.
- During the broadcast, monitor audio and video quality and keep an eye out for dropped connection or encoder warnings.
- For long sessions, make sure the computer remains powered on, OBS stays open, and the network connection remains available for the entire time.
Troubleshooting
The recording stops instead of repeating
For a single file, reopen the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled. For multiple files, check Loop Playlist in the VLC Video source.

The VLC Video source is missing or will not load
Confirm VLC is installed and that its architecture matches OBS. In particular, 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.

YouTube does not receive a signal
Check that OBS has the correct YouTube stream URL and current stream key, that streaming has been activated for the channel, and that OBS is actually streaming. If the key may have been exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and replace it in OBS.
The preview appears, but the video or audio is wrong
Inspect the Media Source or playlist selection and the OBS scene preview. Confirm the intended file is playing, audio is audible, and any text or imagery is readable. Check the Live Control Room preview before making the stream public.

The stream is unstable
Lower the encoder bitrate or output settings if the upload connection cannot sustain them, and leave network headroom. YouTube’s guidance recommends 20% upload-bandwidth headroom; monitor stream health rather than assuming a nominal connection speed guarantees a stable broadcast.
