To use Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection, install or open the app for your device, then connect from inside the app. The exact button and menus depend on the operating system and app version. Kaspersky’s Android instructions use Turn on; Android split tunneling and Windows Kill Switch have separate settings.
How to install or add Kaspersky VPN on a device
Use the official app store or Kaspersky download route available in your region. Kaspersky’s desktop help describes an Other devices option in the desktop app menu: choose it, then scan the QR code or select the operating system to open the mobile download flow. The documented version says the installed mobile app connects to My Kaspersky automatically and starts protecting the device. Menu names and behavior may differ in newer versions. How do I turn on Kaspersky VPN?
On Android, Kaspersky’s instructions are to open Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection and tap Turn on. This is the documented Android flow, not a universal label for every platform or release. If your screen differs, follow the connection control shown in the current app for your device. Kaspersky Support: turning on a secure connection on Android.
How do I use split tunneling in Kaspersky VPN?
Split tunneling lets you choose which apps use the VPN and which connect outside it. The controls differ by platform, and an app excluded from the VPN may use an unsecured connection.

Android
- Open Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection and go to VPN > Settings.
- Enable Split Tunneling.
- In the app list, enable VPN for the apps you want routed through the VPN. If VPN is disabled for every listed app, the documented screen provides a control to enable it for all.
- If you change the selection while connected, reconnect so the change takes effect.
These steps follow Kaspersky’s Android help; menu labels may vary by version. Kaspersky Support: Split Tunneling on Android.
Windows
In the documented Windows version, open Settings > Split Tunneling, turn the feature on, then choose whether to select apps that should use the VPN or apps that should not. Kaspersky notes that DNS requests can behave unexpectedly. It also warns that an app selected to use the VPN may briefly send traffic over an unsecured connection while the VPN reconnects, even when Kill Switch is enabled. Do not treat the app selection as a guarantee that all DNS requests or traffic follow the intended route. Kaspersky Support: Split Tunneling on Windows.

How to enable Kill Switch on Windows
In the Windows help version cited, Kill Switch is off by default. To enable it, open VPN Menu > Settings > Kill Switch and switch it on. Kaspersky describes the feature as blocking internet access if the secure connection is interrupted. Verify the control and its behavior in your installed version; the setting is specific to the documented Windows app, and it does not eliminate the split-tunneling reconnection caveat above.
