For other workflows, GrabzIt also documents REST and language-specific library integrations.
Choose the right GrabzIt integration
The WordPress plugin is the simplest option when you want a capture embedded in a post or page. Use the REST API or a language-specific library when your application needs to request and process captures on the server. GrabzIt’s documentation describes the REST API and native libraries; available parameters depend on the capture type and integration, so check the documentation for the interface you choose.
| Approach | Best fit | Credential and configuration notes |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress plugin and shortcode | Embedding a capture in a WordPress post or page. | Enter the application key in the plugin settings and authorize the WordPress domain. GrabzIt’s WordPress plugin instructions |
| REST API | Server-side workflows that need to request captures programmatically. | Keep the application key on the server; GrabzIt warns that a client-side REST request exposes it. REST API documentation |
| Language-specific library | Applications built in a language with a GrabzIt library, such as Node.js. | Use that library’s own parameter reference. API overview |
Set up the WordPress plugin
- Install GrabzIt’s official Web Capture plugin. Find it through the WordPress plugin installer or follow the vendor’s WordPress plugin instructions.
- Create or use a GrabzIt account. Copy the application key supplied for your account.
- Enter the key in WordPress. Open the GrabzIt plugin settings and paste the application key into the appropriate field.
- Authorize your site’s domain. Add the domain used by your WordPress site to the authorized domains in GrabzIt.
- Add a shortcode to a post or page. Wrap the target URL in the plugin’s
[grabzit]shortcode, then preview or publish the page to check the result.
Embed a capture with a shortcode
The basic pattern shown in GrabzIt’s plugin instructions is:
[grabzit]https://example.com/[/grabzit]
Replace https://example.com/ with the page you want captured. The plugin documentation also shows optional attributes, including format="png" and noads="1". For example:
#1 Best Overall
[grabzit format="png" noads="1"]https://example.com/[/grabzit]
Use only attributes documented for the plugin and confirm their current availability before relying on them. In one text-to-image example, the plugin page identifies width, height, browserheight, and target as paid-package options. That specific note does not establish that every other shortcode option requires a paid package.
Configure full-page and other captures
GrabzIt documents full-page capture and controls for browser dimensions, output sizing, capture duration, and other rendering behavior. The exact parameter name and supported options vary by capture type and interface. In examples for the REST API, a browser height of -1 is used for full-length capture; check the matching reference before transferring that setting to a WordPress shortcode or another library.
- Output: Select a format supported by the integration and suitable for how the result will be used. GrabzIt’s REST documentation covers image, document, video, and data output formats.
- Page length and dimensions: Decide whether a viewport capture is enough or whether the full page is required. Check resulting dimensions and any package requirements in the relevant option documentation.
- Delayed or JavaScript-rendered content: Test pages with content that appears after load, custom scripts, or lazy-loaded images. Use only a delay or rendering control documented for the selected interface; the available evidence does not guarantee identical output for every site.
- Relative resources: If HTML or a page uses relative resource URLs, consult the selected integration’s documentation for how to provide the page address. The Node.js technical documentation includes an option for the relative-resource address.
For parameter details, use the REST reference, the Node.js technical documentation, or the JavaScript API parameter reference, as appropriate. Do not assume an option documented for one API is accepted by the WordPress plugin.

Protect the application key
Do not put a GrabzIt REST application key in public browser-side code. GrabzIt warns that a client-side REST request exposes the key and points users who need a browser-side integration to its JavaScript API. For server-side REST use, GrabzIt also describes IP authorization as a way to restrict which servers can access the API. See the vendor’s REST security guidance.
Test the result and troubleshoot common problems
Test a representative page before adding captures throughout a site. Check the shortcode output in a preview, and include pages with the layout, scripts, and content-loading behavior that matter to your use case.
Rank #4
| Symptom | What to check | Practical next step |
|---|---|---|
| No capture or an authorization error | The application key may be missing or incorrect, or the WordPress domain may not be authorized. | Recheck the key in the plugin settings and confirm the exact site domain is authorized in GrabzIt. |
| The shortcode appears as text or produces no expected embed | The shortcode may be mistyped, placed where shortcodes are not processed, or use an attribute the plugin does not support. | Compare the syntax with the official plugin example and test the basic URL-only shortcode first. |
| Capture is cropped or only shows the initial viewport | The selected capture may use viewport dimensions rather than full-page settings. | Consult the documentation for the chosen interface and verify the full-page option and output dimensions. |
| Images or dynamic content are missing | The page may load content after the capture begins, or use relative resources that need an appropriate base address. | Test a documented capture delay or related option where available; check the integration’s relative-resource guidance. |
| Option is rejected or unavailable | Parameter names and package availability can vary by interface and plan. | Verify the option in the relevant current documentation. The plugin documentation specifically marks certain width and target options in its text-to-image example as paid-package features. |
Plan for output and cost constraints
GrabzIt’s screenshot product page says free-trial API captures include a GrabzIt watermark. If the output will be used commercially or published, check the current trial and package terms and verify whether the watermark is acceptable. Current pricing, quotas, and plan-by-plan feature availability are not specified here, so confirm them directly with GrabzIt before selecting a package.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can GrabzIt capture a full webpage instead of just the visible screen?
Yes. GrabzIt documents full-page capture, but the setting and its name depend on the integration. Check the parameter reference for the interface you use.
Can I use GrabzIt’s REST API directly in a WordPress page’s JavaScript?
GrabzIt warns that doing so exposes the application key. Keep REST requests server-side or consult its JavaScript API documentation for browser-side use.
