To capture a webpage beyond the visible screen with GoFullPage, install the extension from the official Chrome or Firefox listing, open the page, activate the extension, and download the result from the tab it opens. GoFullPage supports image and PDF exports; for a continuous one-page PDF, set PDF Size to “full image” in its settings. The steps below cover browser availability, export choices, permissions, and what to do if a capture is too large or incomplete.
What GoFullPage does
GoFullPage is a browser extension that captures a webpage beyond the visible viewport, then presents the result in a new tab for saving or sharing. Its documented workflow is to open a page, start the capture, let the extension process the page, and download the finished image or PDF. The official GoFullPage how-to article describes this basic process.
A full-page capture is not the same as saving only what is currently visible on your monitor: the extension works through the page to capture content below the fold. Pages with unusually large dimensions or content that changes while being captured may produce different results, so check the output before relying on it.
Install GoFullPage from an official browser listing
GoFullPage’s official update says it returned to the Chrome Web Store and became available on Firefox in September 2026. The company also says the extension continues to work on Microsoft Edge. Since browser-store availability can change, use the official listing for your browser and verify that the extension is available there rather than downloading it from a third-party site.

In Chrome or Firefox, open the relevant listing and use the browser’s install or add-to-browser control. In Edge, check the current official GoFullPage site for its guidance and then confirm the extension’s availability through the browser’s official extension flow. Store labels and menus can change, so the exact button text may vary.
Capture and download a full-page screenshot
- Open the page. Navigate to the webpage you want to capture and wait for its content to load. If the page reveals content as you scroll or updates dynamically, give it time to settle before capturing.
- Start GoFullPage. Click its toolbar icon. In Firefox, the add-on listing also documents the keyboard shortcut
Alt+Shift+P. - Wait for the capture tab. GoFullPage captures the page in sections and stitches the result. Let the process finish; the resulting screenshot opens in a new tab.
- Choose an export and save it. Use the controls in the result tab to download the image or PDF. Available formats and controls can differ by browser and extension version.
- Check the saved file. Open it and inspect the top, bottom, and any important content areas. Confirm that menus, embedded content, or dynamically loaded sections appear as intended.
The Firefox Add-ons listing describes clicking the icon or using Alt+Shift+P, watching the extension capture the page, and then downloading an image or PDF from the new tab. See the official Firefox listing for its current description.

Choose an image or PDF export
The official listings describe image and PDF output. The Chrome listing specifies PNG and JPG images, continuous single-page PDFs, and paginated paper-size PDFs. The Firefox listing describes PNG/JPEG and configurable PDF paper sizes. Options and their names may differ across browsers or extension versions.
| Output | Useful when | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| PNG or JPG image | You want a screenshot file that is easy to view or share as an image. | Check image dimensions and confirm that fine text remains legible at the intended viewing size. |
| Continuous, full-image PDF | You want the page represented as one long PDF page. | In GoFullPage settings, set PDF Size to “full image,” as described in the official FAQ. |
| Paginated paper-size PDF | You want the capture laid out across pages of a paper size. | Review page breaks and margins in the generated file; a long webpage may split content across pages. |
For a PDF meant to be printed, paginated paper-size output may be more practical than a very tall single page. For an archival or review copy where keeping the whole page continuous matters, “full image” is the relevant setting. Inspect the exported result, since a webpage is not designed like a print document.

Understand permission prompts
GoFullPage’s permissions guide explains that certain permissions are requested when a feature needs them rather than being granted in advance for every possible action. It describes permissions used to save files from the extension’s Files page and access used to scroll and capture content inside iframes. The guide also says screenshots are stored locally within the extension. These statements describe the permissions guide’s account; they should not be treated as a blanket guarantee about every version or all processing.
If the browser shows a permission prompt, read what it requests and consider whether it matches the action you are taking. For example, a request associated with saving a file is relevant when you use a save function. Install only through the official browser listing, and consult the permissions guide if you want detail about the permissions GoFullPage describes.

Large pages and capture limitations
The Firefox listing documents a specific large-page edge case: if a page is too large for Chrome to store as one image, GoFullPage will notify the user and split the result into images in separate tabs. That behavior does not establish a universal size limit or guarantee that every unusually long page will capture identically.
Pages can also change while the extension is capturing them, and embedded or lazy-loaded content may behave differently from ordinary text and images. The official sources do not establish a complete list of unsupported pages or a guaranteed result for every website. If a section is missing, retry after the page has fully loaded, then compare the output with the source page. For particularly important captures, verify that the entire result is present before sharing or using it as a record.

Troubleshoot common problems
- The extension is not in the store or will not install. Check the official listing for the browser you use and confirm current availability. GoFullPage’s update dated September 14, 2026, covers its return to Chrome and availability on Firefox; availability may change after that update. Do not rely on third-party download sites.
- The capture does not start. Confirm that you are on the webpage you intend to capture, then click the extension icon again. In Firefox, you can try
Alt+Shift+P. If the browser asks for a permission needed by the action, review and respond to that prompt. - The capture tab has not appeared yet. Wait for the extension to finish processing the page. Its documented workflow captures sections and opens the result in a new tab; a page with changing or loading content may take longer to settle, though the sources do not specify a fixed capture time.
- The result is split across images. This can occur in the large-page case described by the Firefox listing, where Chrome cannot store the page as one image. Download and inspect the resulting images in their separate tabs.
- The PDF is very tall instead of paginated. GoFullPage’s FAQ says to set PDF Size to “full image” for one continuous page. If you want paper-sized pages instead, choose a paginated paper-size option where the browser’s version provides it.
- Some page content is missing or looks different. Check whether the page was still loading or changing during capture, then retry after it settles. Content inside iframes is among the areas for which the permissions guide describes access; a permission prompt may appear when that capability is needed. No source establishes that every embedded or dynamic page element can be captured reliably.
- You cannot find a setting or export control. Browser listings and extension controls may vary by browser version. Consult the current listing and the GoFullPage FAQ rather than assuming that a control appears in the same place in every browser.
Or skip the browser setup
If you need screenshots in a script or service rather than through a browser extension, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Its documented differences include accepting cookie/consent banners before capture and removing more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
For a basic capture, use cURL with your API key and target URL. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for setup and parameters.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
