The fastest Elementor workflow is to start from the right template type instead of rebuilding every section. Open the Template Library from the folder icon in the Elementor Editor, choose a Block for one section, a Page for a complete layout, or My Templates for designs you have saved, then click Insert. For designs you want to reuse, save a page or container as a template; for headers, footers, single posts, and archives that should follow site-wide rules, use Theme Builder.

What an Elementor template is—and why it speeds up page building
An Elementor template is a prebuilt design you can insert into the editor instead of constructing every section, column, widget, spacing choice, and responsive setting from scratch. Templates can represent a small, repeatable section, a complete page, a design your team has saved, or a site-wide template for a header, footer, single item, or archive.
The time saving comes from reusing structure. You still replace the example copy, images, links, and branding, but the layout is already present. A useful template system also gives your team a common starting point: recurring landing-page sections can be saved once and inserted whenever a new page needs them.

- [Deep Bass with Clear Vocals] High-performance drivers produce punchy bass while keeping vocals clean and detailed for everyday listening.
- Blocks are repeatable sections, such as a hero area, feature row, call-to-action, or testimonial strip.
- Pages are complete, predesigned page layouts that provide a fuller starting point.
- My Templates contains designs your site or team has saved for future use.
- Theme Builder templates control reusable site parts, including headers, footers, single-page layouts, and archive layouts.
Choosing the correct scope is more important than choosing the most elaborate design. A block is efficient when only one section is needed; a page is faster when the overall structure is already close to your goal; a Theme Builder template is the appropriate tool when one design must govern many pages through site rules.
Choose the right Elementor template type
| Template type | Scope | Best use | Where it can be reused | Plan or account note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Block | One section or component | Repeatable hero, pricing, feature, or call-to-action sections | Inserted into pages on the current site; a saved block can be stored with your site templates | Library availability follows the features included in your Elementor setup |
| Page | Complete page layout | Landing pages, home pages, about pages, or other full-page starting points | Inserted as page content on the current site; saved designs can be kept for later reuse | Library availability follows the features included in your Elementor setup |
| My Templates | Your saved designs | Team-approved layouts and pages you expect to use repeatedly | Site Templates for the current site, or Cloud Templates for connected sites | Cloud storage requires an Elementor account and is subject to subscription limits |
| Theme Builder template | Site-wide part or content type | Headers, footers, single posts or pages, and archive layouts applied through site rules | Applied wherever its site rules match, rather than inserted as ordinary page content | Elementor’s plan documentation associates Theme Builder and additional Pro widgets with Pro plans |
| Website template export | Packaged site configuration | Moving a prepared site setup to another installation | Exported as a ZIP or saved to the cloud library, then imported on the destination site | Export components and availability depend on your subscription plan |
Insert an Elementor template into a page
Use this workflow when you want to start a page from a library design or add a saved section to an existing page.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Open the destination page. In WordPress, open the page you want to edit and launch the Elementor Editor.
- Open the Template Library. Click the folder icon in the editor. The library opens over the page canvas.
- Pick the scope you need. Choose Blocks for a section, Pages for a complete layout, or My Templates for designs saved by you or your team.
- Find the design. Use the library’s search function. If you repeatedly use a design, add it to your favorites so it is easier to locate next time.
- Insert it. Click Insert on the selected template. The design is placed into the current page.
- Adapt the content. Replace demonstration text, imagery, links, and other page-specific material while preserving the structure that made the template useful. Preview the page at the relevant screen sizes before publishing.
A Page template gives you a whole starting layout, while a Block is better when the rest of the page is already built. My Templates is the quickest route to a layout your own team has already approved, because it avoids searching through the public library.
Save a complete page as a reusable template
Saving a page turns a one-off design into a repeatable starting point. Build the page in Elementor first, then use the Publish menu to choose Save as Template.
- Open or create the page in the Elementor Editor.
- Finish the structural work you expect to reuse: sections or containers, widgets, spacing, and the basic responsive arrangement.
- Open the Publish menu and select Save as Template.
- Give the template a descriptive name that tells teammates what it is for, such as “Product launch landing page” or “Long-form article layout.”
- Choose where to store it: Site Templates keeps it on the current site, while Cloud Templates is intended for reuse across connected sites.
Keep the saved version intentionally generic. Use neutral copy and clearly labeled placeholder areas so the next editor knows what to replace. If a design is meant for one campaign only, leave it as a normal page rather than filling the saved-template library with a one-time layout.

Save a reusable section or container
When only one part of a page needs to recur, save the container rather than the entire page. In the Elementor Editor, right-click the container and choose Save as template. Store it in Site Templates for local reuse or Cloud Templates when the design must be available on connected sites.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Open the page containing the section you want to keep.
- Right-click the relevant container.
- Select Save as template.
- Name the saved item by its job and, when useful, its variant—for example, “Newsletter CTA – dark background.”
- Insert it later through the Template Library’s My Templates area.
Container templates are especially efficient for teams that repeat the same conversion elements on many pages. Save the smallest useful unit: a self-contained call to action is easier to maintain than an entire page that happens to contain one.
Site Templates versus Cloud Templates
The two storage choices answer different reuse needs:
- Site Templates are local to the current website. They are the natural choice when one site’s editors need a shared library of approved sections and pages.
- Cloud Templates are intended for reuse across connected sites. They require an Elementor account, and the amount or type of cloud storage available depends on subscription limits.
Cloud storage is useful for agencies, organizations with several sites, or a team that maintains a common design system across installations. It does not remove the need to check the destination site’s fonts, images, plugins, settings, and subscription capabilities. A cloud-saved design can be available to a connected site, but the destination still needs the features that the design relies on.
If only one site uses a design, Site Templates avoid unnecessary account and subscription dependencies. If several connected sites need the same approved starting points, Cloud Templates reduce the need to recreate or manually distribute them.

Use Theme Builder for site-wide headers, footers, and archives
A regular Page or Block template is inserted into a page as content. A Theme Builder template is different: it defines a reusable site part that can be applied through site rules. Use it when the requirement is “this header appears across the site” or “all archive pages share this layout,” not merely “paste this section into one page.”
Headers and footers
Build these as Theme Builder templates when the same navigation, branding, or footer information should appear across matching pages. Editing the site-wide template is more appropriate than inserting a copy into every individual page, because the template represents the shared site part.
Single templates
A single template controls the layout for an individual content item, such as a post or page type, wherever the applicable site rule selects it. This is the right scope for a consistent article or detail-page structure.
Archive templates
Archive templates provide the layout for listing views, such as a category or other archive. They belong in Theme Builder rather than in a normal page saved as a template, because their purpose is to govern a content collection through site rules.

Move an Elementor website template to another site
For a complete site setup, use Elementor’s website-template export and import workflow rather than copying page content one screen at a time. The export can package the needed content, templates, settings, and plugins into a ZIP, or the site template can be saved to the cloud library for later use on a connected site.
- Prepare the source site. Confirm that the pages, Theme Builder templates, settings, and required plugins are in the state you intend to distribute.
- Start a website-template export. Choose the export option available in your Elementor installation. The components you can include depend on your subscription plan.
- Choose the transfer method. Download the generated ZIP when you need a file-based handoff, or save the website template to the cloud library when the destination is connected to the same account ecosystem.
- Open the destination site. Install and activate the compatible Elementor setup and any required plugins before importing.
- Import the package. Select the ZIP or the cloud-stored website template in the destination’s import workflow.
- Review the result. Check pages, site-wide templates, settings, plugin-dependent widgets, images, links, and responsive layouts. Resolve any differences caused by missing capabilities or destination-site settings before publishing.
This is a site-level transfer. It is broader than inserting one Page or Block, and it should be treated as a configuration migration. Export options and included components vary by subscription, so the same source design may not produce the same package on every plan.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A practical workflow for building pages faster
1. Decide the scope before opening the library
Ask whether you need one section, a complete page, a saved team design, or a site-wide rule. This prevents the common mistake of inserting a full Page template when a single Block would have been enough.
2. Create a small internal library
Save only layouts that are genuinely reusable. Use names based on purpose, audience, and variant rather than vague labels such as “new page.” A consistent naming scheme makes the My Templates search useful as the library grows.
3. Favorite recurring library designs
The Template Library supports favorites. Mark the layouts your team repeatedly chooses so they can be found without browsing the entire collection.
Best Value
4. Separate generic structure from campaign content
Keep a reusable template’s text and imagery easy to replace. Save a campaign-specific page only when you expect to reproduce that campaign’s complete structure; otherwise, save its useful sections as Blocks.
5. Keep local and cross-site assets distinct
Use Site Templates for a single site’s working library. Use Cloud Templates when connected sites need the same design. Document which fonts, images, plugins, and Elementor capabilities a cross-site design expects.

Insertion creates a starting layout, not a finished page. Check headings, links, media, spacing, and responsive behavior in the destination context. A design that worked on the source page may need content-specific adjustments on the new page.
Common problems and how to fix them
The Template Library does not appear
- Make sure the page is open in the Elementor Editor and that you clicked the folder icon.
- Confirm that you are looking in the correct category: Blocks, Pages, or My Templates.
- If you expected a cloud item, verify that the Elementor account is connected and that your subscription includes the available cloud storage.
A saved template is missing from My Templates
- Check whether it was saved to Site Templates on a different website rather than to the current site’s library.
- Check Cloud Templates if the design was intended for connected-site reuse.
- Search by the exact name you assigned and review favorites if your team uses them.
A header or footer only appears on one page
That usually indicates that the design was inserted as ordinary page content. Recreate or save the design as a Theme Builder template and apply the appropriate site rule instead of pasting a separate copy into each page.
An imported website looks different on the destination
- Check whether every required plugin is installed and active.
- Compare the destination’s Elementor subscription capabilities with the source package; export options and included components depend on plan.
- Review imported settings, templates, images, and links individually, then test the site’s responsive layouts.
Which approach should you use?
| Your goal | Use | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Add one repeatable section to an existing page | Block | Smallest useful scope and fastest insertion |
| Start a new page from a complete layout | Page | Provides the page structure in one insertion |
| Reuse a design your team created | My Templates | Stores your approved pages and containers |
| Apply one header, footer, single layout, or archive layout site-wide | Theme Builder | Uses site rules instead of isolated page content |
| Reuse saved material on connected sites | Cloud Templates | Central cloud storage, subject to account and subscription limits |
| Replicate a prepared site configuration | Website-template export/import | Moves content, templates, settings, and plugins as a package, subject to plan capabilities |
Key limitations to plan for
- Subscription scope: Cloud storage requires an Elementor account and is constrained by subscription limits. Theme Builder and some Pro capabilities are associated with Pro plans, while website-template export options depend on the plan.
- Destination compatibility: A template can reference widgets, plugins, settings, fonts, and media that are not present or configured the same way on another site.
- Scope mismatch: Inserting a Page or Block does not turn it into a site-wide header, footer, single, or archive rule. Use Theme Builder for those jobs.
- Content still needs editing: A prebuilt layout accelerates structure; it does not replace checking the actual copy, links, images, accessibility, or responsive presentation of the new page.
Bottom line
For the quickest everyday workflow, open Elementor’s Template Library with the folder icon, insert a Block or Page, and use My Templates for designs your team has saved. Save a page with Publish → Save as Template when you need a complete reusable starting point, or right-click a container and choose Save as template when only one section should recur. Keep local designs in Site Templates, use Cloud Templates for connected-site reuse, and reserve Theme Builder for headers, footers, single layouts, and archives governed by site rules. When the requirement is to move an entire prepared setup, use a website-template ZIP or cloud export and verify the destination’s plan, plugins, settings, and content afterward.
