defillama-go is a Go client for DefiLlama’s Free and Pro APIs. It provides typed access to data such as protocol TVL, token prices, yields, stablecoins, fees, bridges, real-world assets and equities. Its documentation lists 132 GET operations across 21 services in the OpenAPI snapshot included with the package; that count describes the snapshot, not confirmed parity with every live DefiLlama endpoint.

What defillama-go covers

The package describes itself as a small, idiomatic Go client for DefiLlama’s Free and Pro APIs. Its documented data areas include protocol TVL, token prices, yields, stablecoins, fees, bridges, real-world assets (RWA) and equities. See the project documentation for its service and method inventory.

The package documentation reports 132 GET operations in its included, pinned OpenAPI snapshot: 31 Free and 101 Pro, organized through 21 services. “Full API surface” therefore refers to the package’s snapshot. It does not establish that the package covers every endpoint currently available in DefiLlama’s live API, or that its snapshot has the same contents as the latest API specification.

How to decide whether it fits your application

Before building against the SDK, check that the operation you need is present and identify its access tier. The package’s operation counts are tied to its included specification; DefiLlama’s API documentation is the place to verify current endpoint details and access requirements.

  • Confirm endpoint coverage: Find the method for each operation your application needs in the package’s current documentation.
  • Check Free versus Pro access: The package documents both tiers, but an SDK method does not itself grant access to a Pro endpoint.
  • Review request behavior: Consider context cancellation, transport customization and how the application handles URLs and errors.
  • Compare with direct HTTP: A client can avoid hand-building requests, while direct calls may suit an application that needs an endpoint or request behavior not represented by the package.

Using it in a Go application

The package documentation describes a standard-library-only runtime, support for a caller-provided *http.Client, context-aware network methods and safe sharing of one client across goroutines. These are documented design properties, not independent performance or reliability test results. Consult the package’s current README for the exact installation command, client constructor and method signatures before integrating it.

Customize the HTTP transport when needed

Providing an *http.Client lets an application configure transport behavior such as timeouts, proxies or tracing using its own client setup. Choose timeouts and cancellation policies that match the workload; the package documentation does not prescribe universal values.

Pass contexts to network calls

Network methods accept context.Context, according to the package documentation. Use a context with an appropriate deadline or cancellation path so requests can stop when the caller no longer needs the result. Construction with New is documented as making no network request.

Share a client across goroutines

The documentation says a single client can be shared across goroutines. That can simplify applications that make concurrent API calls, while still leaving the caller responsible for managing its own shared data and cancellation behavior.

How Pro API keys are handled

The package documentation describes the Pro request format as https://pro-api.llama.fi/{API_KEY}/<endpoint path>, with the key embedded in the URL path rather than supplied as an HTTP header or query parameter. It says the SDK escapes the key as a path segment and redacts it from URLs and error diagnostics. If no key is configured, the SDK is documented to return ProAPIKeyRequiredError before building or sending a request.

Because keys in URL paths can appear in logs or other URL-handling systems, review your application’s logging, tracing and error-reporting configuration rather than assuming every surrounding component will redact them. Authentication requirements and service behavior can change; check DefiLlama’s current documentation when setting up access.

How it relates to DefiLlama’s official tooling

DefiLlama’s API documentation lists TypeScript/JavaScript and Python SDKs and describes an MCP option that requires an API plan. The DefiLlama/api-sdk repository identifies itself as the official TypeScript/JavaScript SDK. defillama-go is documented separately as a Go client; the available documentation does not establish that it is an official DefiLlama SDK.

Version and scope to verify before adopting

The package registry listed v1.2.1 as published on October 7, 2026, three days before the research date of October 7, 2026 is inconsistent: a publication cannot be three days before that same date. The available package listing supports the version number, but the relative publication timing should not be relied on. A registry timestamp is not a maintenance guarantee or independent review. Check the current registry and repository for the version, endpoint inventory and authentication behavior you intend to use.
