To use custom website tags in the Hostinger dashboard, open Websites, create a label under Add tag and Manage tags, apply it to each site from the three-dot menu, and then use the Tags dropdown beside the search bar to filter the list. Each site can carry up to five tags, and a filter with several tags shows only the sites that match all of them.
Check that your plan supports tags
Hostinger’s help article on custom tags says the feature is available on its web and cloud hosting plans. The article was last updated on 6 October 2026. If your account is on a different Hostinger product, the article does not confirm the feature there, so look for the Tags controls in your own dashboard before planning a tagging system around them.

Open the Hostinger dashboard and go to Websites. Hostinger’s guide to that section, updated on 4 October 2026, describes it as the place to manage your site list, and it is where every tagging action in this guide happens. Hostinger’s Websites section guide covers the list itself.

Create a tag
Tags are personal labels you define yourself. Hostinger does not ship with a fixed set of built-in tags, so the names you create are the only ones that appear.

- In Websites, click the vertical three-dot options menu beside any site and choose Add tag.
- Select Manage tags.
- Type a tag name of 30 characters or fewer and select Save.
Repeat the steps for each label you need. Hostinger says there is no stated limit on how many tags you can create.
Assign and remove tags on a site
Assigning a tag is done site by site, and you can give one site several labels at once.
- In Websites, open the three-dot menu beside the site you want to label.
- Select Add tag.
- Tick the checkbox for each label that belongs on this site.
To remove a label from that site, open the same menu, choose Add tag, and untick the checkbox. Removing a tag from one site does not delete the tag itself, so it stays available for other sites.

Filter the Websites list by tag
Once sites are labelled, you can narrow the list to a group of projects.
- In Websites, find the Tags dropdown beside the search bar.
- Select the tag or tags you want to show.
Filtering uses AND logic. If you select two tags, the dashboard displays only sites that carry both. It does not show sites with either one. To see a wider group, select fewer tags. To find a specific subgroup, add a tag to narrow the result further.

Rename or delete tags
Tag names are not fixed once created. To manage them, open the Filter by tag dropdown and choose Manage tags. From this screen you can rename a tag, create a new one, or delete a tag using the bin icon.
Hostinger’s tag article does not say what happens to sites that still carry a tag you delete. Before removing a label from a large group, apply the change to a single site and check the result in the Websites list.
Tag limits at a glance
| Item | Limit or rule | Source and scope |
|---|---|---|
| Tag name length | 30 characters or fewer | Hostinger tag help article, web and cloud hosting plans |
| Tags you can create | No stated limit | Hostinger tag help article, web and cloud hosting plans |
| Tags on one website | Up to five | Hostinger tag help article, web and cloud hosting plans |
| Multiple tags in the filter | Shows only sites matching all selected tags | Hostinger tag help article, web and cloud hosting plans |
The five-tag cap applies per site, so you can give a site up to five labels from any part of your scheme. Plan the labels in categories so that five is enough.

Hostinger’s examples suggest two practical categories. Using one from each keeps the filter useful as your portfolio grows.
Content or site type
Labels such as Blog, Portfolio, or Shop answer the question “what kind of site is this?” They are stable and rarely change, which makes them good for long-term grouping.
Project status
Labels such as In progress, Active, Draft, or Maintenance answer “what is happening with this site right now?” These change often, so you will edit them more frequently. Keep the list short so you can update it in a few clicks.

If you cannot find the controls
- Confirm that your site sits on a web or cloud hosting plan, since that is the scope Hostinger documents.
- Make sure you are in the Websites section rather than a different dashboard area.
- Check Hostinger’s current help articles, because menu labels and plan eligibility can change over time. The tag article was last updated on 6 October 2026.
The tag controls are simple once you know where they are. Most people set up their first few labels in under ten minutes, then edit them occasionally as projects move through their lifecycle.
