You can use a downloadable GitHub skill to give a ChatGPT Dot a repeatable project-management workflow: define a software, app, or game project’s goal, divide it into milestones, hand implementation work to selected threads, test the resulting build, and keep records in a project Space. The skill is an instruction file, not a project-management integration: it does not supply tools, credentials, permissions, or guaranteed unattended execution.
How do I use ChatGPT Dots as a project manager?
Start by confirming that Dots and skill installation are available in your ChatGPT environment. Then download the skill file, ask ChatGPT to install it, and invoke it with the project context and authorized tools it needs. OpenAI describes a Dot as “an always-on agent that keeps work moving across your tools and projects” in its Meet dots documentation; what it can actually do depends on the connections and permissions available to that Dot.
- Check access first. Confirm that Dots are enabled for your account or workspace and that your environment supports installing and invoking skills. Dots availability is subject to plan, location, workspace settings, and a gradual rollout.
- Download the skill. Open the public finna/project-manager-skill GitHub repository and download its
SKILL.mdfile. - Install it in ChatGPT. Upload
SKILL.mdand ask:Please install this skill as project-manager.Follow the environment’s available installation flow. - Start a project with the skill. Invoke
@project-managerand provide the goal, intended outcome, existing implementation thread, and project Space. Explain how success should be observed rather than relying on a broad objective such as “finish the app.” - Connect only what the work needs. Provide access to the relevant repository, implementation thread, build or runtime environment, test tools, and Space. Each connection must be available and separately authorized.
What does the project-manager skill do?
The repository lays out a cycle for coordinating software, app, and game projects. It tells the agent to make the project’s vision and completion criteria explicit, break the work into small milestones, and send each implementation task to a thread selected by the user. The agent then identifies the resulting build and checks, tests that exact build in its intended environment, sends failures back for fixes, and requests a new build for retesting.
For project records, the workflow directs the agent to maintain progress, decisions, screenshots, and versioned quality-assurance evidence in the requested private Space. It also calls for explicit reporting when a required capability is missing or a completion criterion remains untested. These are workflow instructions—not proof that the project has been built, tested, or passed QA.

What the skill does not provide
The skill does not connect a repository, create credentials, install a build system, or grant access to a Space. Nor does uploading the file authorize consequential actions. Publishing, production deployment, merging code, spending money, changing accounts, or sharing more widely still require their own authorization and any applicable approval checks.
Connections are not interchangeable: an app connection, messaging channel, and local-computer connection each serve a different purpose. OpenAI’s Get started with your dot guidance says local skills require a connected computer; local computer access requires that computer to be online with the ChatGPT app open. If a needed repository, thread, runtime, test tool, or Space is unavailable, the Dot cannot use the skill’s instructions to make it available.

Will the skill install in every ChatGPT environment?
No. The skill depends on an environment that supports both installation and invocation, and Dots themselves are not available to every account or workspace. OpenAI’s documentation describes a gradual rollout. As listed there, eligible access includes Pro 100, Pro 200, and Pro 500 for users over 18 outside the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland; Business Premium worldwide; and Enterprise worldwide, with Dots off by default until an administrator enables them. An eligible account may not see access immediately.
Check the current OpenAI Dots documentation and your workspace settings before relying on access, since availability can change. For Enterprise, confirm with an administrator that Dots have been enabled. The GitHub file is free to download, but that does not make Dots or the required ChatGPT environment universally available.

How to keep the workflow reliable
- Give the Dot measurable completion criteria and the intended test environment, so “done” can be checked against a specific build.
- Ask it to identify missing connections or permissions before assigning work that depends on them.
- Keep implementation handoffs scoped to small milestones, and track which build was tested and what evidence supports each result.
- Review important outputs and their sources. Dots can make mistakes, and stopping a Dot does not undo actions it has already completed.
- Make approval boundaries explicit for deployment, merging, publishing, spending, account changes, and sharing.
