To use Avira Browser Safety, open Avira and select Privacy → Browser safety. Follow the link to your browser’s extension store and add the extension. It is designed to warn about dangerous sites, check search results, and block trackers—but its warnings are not a guarantee that every threat will be caught.
Install Avira Browser Safety
Avira lists Opera, Chrome, and Firefox as supported browsers. Its step-by-step setup instructions specifically describe Chrome and Firefox; the support page does not provide an Opera-specific store walkthrough.

What Browser Safety does while you browse
Avira describes Browser Safety as an extension that scans webpage source for malware and trackers, checks search results against Avira URL Cloud, highlights dangerous sites, and warns before you visit a potentially harmful page. It may also offer a secure site for desired software when a download link is associated with a potentially unwanted application (PUA). These are vendor-described protections, not a promise that every malicious page or unwanted program will be identified.
#1 Best Overall
- THREAT DETECTION – Stay one step ahead. Suspicious links, risky sites, viruses, and scams, caught automatically before they reach you.
- PERSONAL INFO PROTECTION – Keep your personal info safer. Identity monitoring watches for your exposed info and tells you what to do about it.
- SECURE CONNECTIONS – Just a few easy clicks, and we'll automatically protect your info on public Wi‑Fi, every time you connect.
- GUIDED ACTION – Know what matters and what to do next. Clear alerts and simple guidance make it easy to take action.
- MORE THAN ANTIVIRUS – Scam protection, identity monitoring, VPN, web protection, and antivirus work together to protect you, all in one place.
A warning is not necessarily a hard block: Avira says you can still choose to click a warned link. Treat the alert as a reason to pause and assess the destination rather than as a guarantee of safety if no alert appears. Avira’s feature description explains its stated checks and warning behavior.
