You shop at apple.com/us-edu/store, verify eligibility through UNiDAYS when prompted, and complete checkout with the education price already applied. It is not a coupon code, a tax exemption, or a resale channel.
Who can use Apple’s Education Store?
Apple’s published U.S. eligibility categories are specific. The store serves personal purchases by people in the following groups:
Higher-education students and families
- Students currently attending an eligible public or private college or university in the United States or Puerto Rico.
- Students accepted into an eligible higher-education institution.
- Parents buying on behalf of a current or accepted higher-education student.
- Faculty and staff of qualifying higher-education institutions.
Apple explicitly lists parents of higher-education students. That rule should not be generalized to every family member or to parents of K–12 students.
K–12 eligibility
- Employees of public or private K–12 schools in the United States or Puerto Rico.
- Homeschool teachers.
- Currently serving elected or appointed school-board members.
- Currently serving elected or appointed PTA/PTO executives.
Private tutors, volunteers, education-adjacent workers, and other unlisted categories should ask Apple or UNiDAYS rather than assume they qualify. Eligibility details are published in Apple’s account and eligibility guidance.

Who should use another Apple channel?
Schools, districts, colleges, and other organizations buying equipment for institutional use should use Apple’s education-institution or procurement channels, not a personal Education Store account. Personal education purchases may not be used for resale.
Open the correct Apple store
Start with the U.S. Education Store: https://www.apple.com/us-edu/store. The ordinary Apple Store does not automatically convert a product page to education pricing.
Apple says education orders must be placed through the store serving the institution’s country or region. A U.S. or Puerto Rico student should therefore use the U.S. education storefront, while a student studying elsewhere should use that region’s Apple education site.

How UNiDAYS verification works
Apple currently requires education verification before checkout. Verification is handled through UNiDAYS, and the exact screens and evidence requests can vary by institution and buyer category.
- Browse the Education Store and configure a product, or open Apple’s verification page at https://www.apple.com/us-edu/shop/checkout/edu_start/.
- Sign in with an Apple Account before verification when possible. Apple says verified status remains active for one year when you do so.
- Follow the UNiDAYS prompts and select your institution or eligibility category.
- Provide whatever evidence UNiDAYS requests. A school-issued email, enrollment or acceptance information, faculty or staff employment details, parent-to-student relationship evidence, or homeschool-teacher information may be requested; Apple does not publish one universal document checklist.
- Return to the Apple checkout flow after verification and confirm that the education price remains attached to your configuration.
If verification fails
- Confirm that you are using the storefront for the institution’s country or region.
- Enter the institution’s official name and your personal details exactly as they appear in school records.
- Try a school-issued email address if you have one.
- Use UNiDAYS support or its alternate-document process instead of creating multiple accounts with conflicting information.
- Contact Apple through chat or 1-800-MY-APPLE if the verification page loops, the discount disappears, or a verified account cannot complete checkout.
How to buy a Mac, iPad, or other product
- Open the U.S. Education Store and choose a category such as Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, or accessories.
- Open the product page and select the exact chip, memory, storage, finish, connectivity, and accessories you need.
- Record the education price shown for that exact configuration; “from” prices describe the least expensive configuration, not every model.
- Add the item to your bag.
- Sign in with your Apple Account and complete UNiDAYS verification if Apple requests it.
- Review the bag for configuration, education pricing, gift-card or other promotion eligibility, AppleCare+, trade-in credit, financing terms, taxes, delivery charges, and pickup details.
- Submit the order and save the confirmation and eligibility-related emails.
Apple also supports education purchases in Apple Retail Stores and through authorized campus resellers, but the same annual quantity limits apply across those channels.

Apple’s current catalog includes selected MacBook, desktop Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, display, and accessory configurations. Not every product or configuration receives a special education price. Check Mac and iPad product pages rather than relying on an old search result or cached price.
Annual quantity limits
Apple publishes the following U.S. quantities:
| Category | Limit |
|---|---|
| Desktop computer | 1 per year |
| Mac mini | 1 per year |
| MacBook | 1 per year |
| Display | 1 per year |
| iPad | 2 per year |
| Apple Watch | 1 per year |
| Accessories | 2 per year |
These limits are cumulative across Apple’s online store, Apple Retail Stores, and authorized campus resellers. “Per year” is Apple’s wording; it should not automatically be treated as a guaranteed January 1 reset. Ask Apple before placing an unusual or closely timed order.
How to compare the real savings
Compare the same model number and configuration in the Education Store and the regular Apple Store. A headline “from” price can conceal differences in memory, storage, chip, screen size, or cellular connectivity.

- Add sales tax, delivery charges, AppleCare+, and any financing cost.
- Subtract a confirmed Apple Trade In value only after checking the live estimate at Apple Trade In.
- Assign a realistic value to any gift card rather than treating it as an immediate cash discount.
- Check public Apple promotions, authorized campus-reseller bundles, and school-issued equipment.
- Compare against Apple Certified Refurbished inventory at apple.com/shop/refurbished. Refurbished availability is model- and inventory-dependent, but Apple’s public refurbished store describes products as backed by a one-year warranty.
There is no universal education discount percentage. The better deal depends on the exact configuration, timing, tax, promotion, trade-in, warranty, and return conditions.

As displayed on August 18, 2026, Apple’s U.S. Education Store advertised a limited-time gift-card offer with eligible Mac or iPad purchases. It is not a permanent Education Store feature. Before paying, inspect the promotional footnote and confirm the eligible models, purchase dates, gift-card amount, custom-configuration rules, return treatment, and whether the offer can combine with financing or trade-in.
Apple lists Apple Pay, Apple Card, credit and debit cards, PayPal, Apple Gift Cards, and Apple Account balance among supported payment methods. Some payment methods can be restricted for pickup or multi-address orders. “Pay over time” is a separate financing arrangement, not an additional education discount; monthly examples do not show the total cost without the term, APR, taxes, and approval conditions. Apple Card financing requires an Apple Card and approval.

Taxes, returns, and exchanges
Education pricing is not automatically tax-free. Apple’s payment guidance says federal tax-exemption certificates are not applicable; sales tax depends on the delivery or pickup circumstances and applicable law.
Apple’s U.S. Education Store policy generally allows a return or exchange within 14 days of receipt, with proof of purchase, the product in original condition, and all included parts, accessories, and packaging. Returns must be made in the country where the product was purchased. A campus reseller may have different operational procedures, and promotional gift-card terms can affect a return or refund.
Audits and prohibited use
Apple says it routinely audits education-pricing purchases. If it determines that the purchase conditions were not followed, Apple may charge or invoice the difference between the education price and the applicable general-public price. If an identical public product is not sold, Apple’s terms refer to the closest equivalent product.
Quick Recap
- Do not use personal education pricing for resale.
- Do not exceed the published quantities.
- Do not assume that access to another person’s student credentials makes every purchase valid.
- Keep enrollment, acceptance, employment, or other supporting records.
Education Store versus other buying routes
| Route | Best for | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Education Store | Eligible individuals buying new equipment | UNiDAYS verification and quantity limits apply |
| Regular Apple Store | Anyone who does not qualify or finds a public promotion | No education pricing |
| Apple Certified Refurbished | Lower price on available prior-generation models | Inventory and configurations are limited |
| Authorized campus reseller | Local pickup, campus bundles, or school support | Purchases still count toward Apple’s education limits |
| Used-device market | Lowest possible purchase price | Greater risk involving battery health, activation lock, repairs, warranty, and provenance |
| Institutional procurement | Schools and organizations buying multiple devices | Use Apple’s institution channel, not personal education pricing |
