Apple Calendar on iPhone can manage one-time events, recurring plans, invitations, and separate calendars for work or personal life. To add an event, open Calendar, tap Add, enter its details, and tap Done. The steps below cover editing events, organizing calendars, choosing time zones, fixing alerts, syncing, and finding events. Menu labels may vary with iOS version and account type.
How to add or edit an event
Create an event

Open Calendar. In Day view, tap Add.

Enter a title, then set the date and start and end times. Add a location or video-call link if useful.

Set an alert if you want a reminder, then tap Done to save.

To add an attachment, open the event’s edit screen and select a file from Files. Attachments may be shared with invitees. Siri may suggest events detected in Mail, Messages, and Safari; related suggestions can be managed in Settings > Apps > Calendar > Siri. Apple Intelligence features depend on compatible devices, language, and region, so availability is not the same for everyone.
Change or remove an event
Tap the event, choose Edit, make changes, and save with Done. In Day or Week view, you can touch and hold an event to drag it to a different time; use its handles to change its duration. You can also copy an event and paste it at another date and time. To remove one, open it in Day view and choose Delete Event.
How to organize events with multiple calendars
Separate calendars can make work, family, and personal plans easier to scan. Tap Calendars to add a named iCloud calendar, subscribe to an external read-only .ics calendar, or add a holiday calendar. From the calendar list, choose which calendars are visible and toggle birthday or holiday calendars as needed.

To put an event in a different calendar, open it, tap Edit, choose Calendar, select the destination, and save. For future events, set the default at Settings > Apps > Calendar > Default Calendar; new events are assigned there automatically. You can also choose calendar colors, though some providers, including Google, control colors on their servers.
Calendar settings also include default alert times for birthdays, events, and all-day events; the Time to Leave option; default event duration; location suggestions; start-of-week choice; week numbers; and alternate calendars.
How to choose a time zone for an event
By default, Calendar shows events according to the current location’s time zone. If an event must happen at a specific local time elsewhere, edit its start or end time, tap Time Zone, and search for the relevant location. This sets the event’s time zone.

That is different from Time Zone Override, which changes the zone Calendar uses to display events. To keep a chosen display zone while traveling, go to Settings > Apps > Calendar > Time Zone Override and select a place. Existing events are displayed in that zone while retaining their original zone information. The override affects Calendar’s display, not the event’s underlying scheduled time.
Why Calendar alerts may not appear
An event’s alert setting and iPhone’s Calendar notification permissions are separate controls. An event can have a reminder configured but still fail to appear as expected if notifications are disabled or presented somewhere you are not checking.

For the event itself, open it, tap Edit, choose Alert, select a reminder time, then save.

Check Settings > Notifications > Calendar and allow notifications.

On that same screen, review how notices appear—such as on the Lock Screen, in Notification Center, as banners, or with sound.

Review Calendar’s customized notification controls for event notices and invitee responses. If you rely on default reminders, check the default alert settings in Calendar settings as well.
How to sync calendars across devices
For iCloud Calendar, the iPhone and other devices signed in to the same Apple Account can keep calendar information current when Calendar is enabled on each device. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your Apple Account name, then iCloud > See All, and enable iCloud Calendar for this iPhone.

Calendar can also use calendars from other account providers, or sync calendar information between an iPhone and a computer without iCloud. Which account owns a calendar matters: its provider determines how that calendar is stored and updated. Accounts that do not support Push may instead use a Fetch schedule in Calendar account settings. Apple says the Automatically fetch option retrieves new data when the iPhone is charging and connected to Wi-Fi.
How to find an event
Tap Search in Calendar and enter a term. Search can match an event’s title, invitees, location, or notes. Siri can also answer a question such as, “What’s on my calendar for Friday?”

Invitations and calendar sharing
Apple Calendar supports sending and replying to invitations, and sharing iCloud calendars. The exact options depend on the calendar and account involved. Check the controls shown for the specific event or calendar before relying on a particular invite-delivery method, public link, or permission level.
