This emulates what the browser reports; it does not verify that a real person or device is physically at those coordinates.
Set up geolocation and capture a screenshot with Playwright
Playwright is a practical route when your agent or test already runs a Playwright-controlled browser. Set geolocation and permission on the browser context before creating or using the page. Context-level settings apply to pages in that context. The coordinate values below are Playwright documentation examples, not a report of a live test. See Playwright’s emulation documentation for the supported setup.

Replace the example URL and selector with the target page and an application-specific readiness signal. The example selector is illustrative: a site will not necessarily expose it. Make the capture reproducible
Geolocation is only one input to a rendered page. If you need repeatable screenshots, also set and record the viewport, browser engine, locale, timezone, device profile, account state, and relevant cookies. A site can use IP-based location or its own logic in addition to browser location, so changing geolocation alone may not change what it displays.

For Playwright Test, the official emulation documentation also shows configuring geolocation and permissions: ['geolocation'] under the test configuration’s use options. Choose that route when the same location should apply consistently to a test project; use a context setup in a standalone agent script or when each run needs its own settings.
Change location during a run
To move an existing context to a different test location, call await context.setGeolocation({ latitude, longitude }). Playwright documents this as a context-level change that applies to all pages in that context. Wait for the application to react to the new browser location before taking another screenshot.
Choose the screenshot scope and format
Use a viewport capture when the evidence is the visible screen at a particular scroll position. Use fullPage: true when the full scrollable document matters. A full-page image can be much taller and may not represent what a user sees in one viewport.

- PNG: a suitable default for crisp interface evidence and lossless output.
- JPEG or WebP: useful when reducing image payload size matters; confirm the format is supported by the particular browser API or tool you use.
- Region capture: if only part of a page matters, capture or clip that region using the capabilities of your chosen API rather than saving an unnecessarily large image.
Playwright’s page.screenshot() saves the image at the requested path. Keep the filename predictable so the agent can return or attach the expected artifact.
Use Chrome DevTools Protocol only when your agent already speaks CDP
Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP) is a lower-level alternative for agents that already issue browser protocol commands. Its Page domain includes Page.captureScreenshot, with format and clipping options. The current protocol reference marks Page.setGeolocationOverride deprecated, so prefer Playwright’s documented geolocation API for a new Playwright-based workflow rather than making that CDP method the default. Check the current CDP Page reference before adopting protocol commands.
For a hosted agent that needs to inspect and interact with webpages through CDP, Cloudflare documents Browser Run as an optional deployment route. It is not required for the local Playwright workflow. See Cloudflare Browser documentation and its browser-agent example.

Troubleshoot a location-specific screenshot
The page still shows the old or default location
- Confirm the browser context has the intended latitude and longitude and that the geolocation permission was granted before the page attempted to read location.
- Check that the page actually calls a browser location API. A site that relies on IP location, an account setting, or a manually selected region may not respond to the browser mock.
- Wait for the location-dependent request or UI state to finish before capturing. Navigation completion alone does not guarantee that a separate location lookup has completed.
The site reports denied permission or geolocation is unavailable
Verify the context’s permission configuration and inspect whether the page or an embedding policy blocks geolocation. Chrome explains that Permissions Policy can control feature access for pages, embedded frames, and subresources; a permission setting in the test context does not override a page policy that disallows the feature. The screenshot is blank, stale, or still loading
Wait for a specific application condition—such as the location label changing, a results element appearing, or a known request completing—instead of relying on a fixed short delay. If the page can fail or time out, make the script report that state rather than silently treating an incomplete screenshot as the intended result.
The output is too large or captures the wrong area
Check whether you requested a full-page screenshot or only the viewport, and whether the current scroll position is the one you need. Choose a smaller region or a supported compressed format when payload size is more important than lossless detail.

Does a mocked browser location prove a person is at those coordinates?
No. It changes the location reported by the automated browser for testing; it is not physical-location verification.

Can every website be made to show a different location this way?
No. The page must use browser geolocation and allow access to it. A site may instead rely on IP location, account settings, or its own region-selection logic.
Which Playwright screenshot setting captures the whole page?
Use fullPage: true in page.screenshot(); omit it when you only need the current viewport.
