You can capture an Indian payment dashboard behind login only if you give the capture process an authorized, working signed-in session. A screenshot API does not bypass authentication by itself. First confirm that the dashboard owner permits automation and that the chosen method works with its login and multifactor authentication; then verify the signed-in page and capture only the content you need.
Before capturing a payment dashboard
Confirm with the dashboard owner or administrator that automated access is permitted and identify the application’s supported authentication flow. Depending on the site, access may rely on cookies, request headers or tokens, local storage, IndexedDB, passkeys, or a combination. Playwright’s authentication guide explains that authentication state can involve several of these mechanisms.

A vendor’s instructions for sending cookies or headers describe technical options, not permission to automate an unrelated payment provider. Choose an approach that fits the login and data

Compare options by who controls the credentials and image, compatibility with the actual login and MFA flow, permission and automation restrictions, and the capture area and output format required. The available documentation does not establish a fair security ranking of providers.

Browser automation with Playwright
For an operator-controlled dashboard, browser automation can keep the browser session in an environment the operator manages. The example below assumes you have already saved an authorized Playwright storage-state file for the relevant account. The file may contain reusable credentials: Playwright warns, “The browser state file may contain sensitive cookies and headers that could be used to impersonate you or your test account.” Do not commit it to source control or expose it in logs.

Run it with
node capture.mjs. The example waits for a visible authenticated-page heading before taking a PNG of the selected element. Use a selector and confirmation condition that actually exist in your dashboard.

Authentication-state setup
How state is obtained depends on the application’s permitted sign-in flow. Playwright documents saving and reusing browser authentication state, but a state file will not solve a flow that depends on an unsupported challenge, passkey, or interactive MFA step. Establish the session through an approved process, then confirm the final URL or a known signed-in UI element before capture.

Capture only the necessary area
- One chart or panel: use an element capture, as in the Playwright example, to avoid collecting unrelated account information.
- What is currently visible: use a viewport screenshot when only the on-screen area is needed.
- Content below the fold: use a full-page screenshot only when the additional content is necessary. Full-page capture can include more sensitive data than a viewport or element capture.
- Further processing: Playwright can return screenshot bytes for post-processing instead of writing an image directly to a file.
Protect credentials and screenshots
- Keep browser state files, cookies, and authentication headers out of repositories and routine logs; limit access and rotate or renew credentials according to the operator’s policy.
- Treat the resulting image as sensitive if it contains balances, transaction details, customer data, or account identifiers. Limit its storage, access, and retention.
- Before sending dashboard access or content to a third-party renderer, assess that provider’s security controls, retention, data location, and contractual terms. Technical capture documentation alone does not establish those controls.
- Do not assume a particular screenshot setup is compliant or non-compliant with Indian payment rules. Applicability depends on the operator, the data, and the rules that govern them; the sources cited here do not establish a universal RBI requirement for this workflow.
Troubleshooting
The capture shows a login page
The saved session may be missing, expired, or insufficient for the dashboard’s authentication flow. Check the final URL and a signed-in page element before capture. Re-establish state through the approved login process, including required MFA, rather than assuming that a cookie or token alone is sufficient.
The API rejects a cookie or header
Confirm that the dashboard owner permits the method and that the credential is valid, correctly scoped, and accepted for the page navigation and any required subresources. A provider’s support for custom headers or cookies cannot make a site accept them.

The page loads but the panel is missing
The selector may be wrong, or the panel may render after initial navigation. Confirm the selector against the authorized page and wait for the panel itself to become visible before capture. If the content is below the fold or loaded lazily, choose a capture method and wait strategy that accounts for it.
The screenshot includes more than intended
Replace a full-page or viewport capture with an element screenshot, and verify the selected region before storing or sharing the image. Avoid capturing extra payment or customer information merely for convenience.

Does a screenshot API log in to a payment dashboard for me?
No. It captures a page using an authenticated context or credential mechanism that the site permits; it does not inherently bypass the site’s login.
Can I send a live session cookie to a screenshot service?
Only if the dashboard owner permits that method and the service has passed your review for handling the credential and resulting image. A session cookie can grant account access.
Is a full-page screenshot always the best choice?
No. For a single chart or report panel, an element capture reduces unnecessary collection. Use full-page capture only when below-the-fold content is needed.
