Pair a Samsung Smart Remote with the Samsung TV
- Point the Smart Remote at the TV’s remote sensor. Samsung says the sensor is usually at the lower right of the TV or at the bottom center.
- Press and hold Return and Play/Pause together for at least three seconds.
- Wait for the on-screen confirmation that the remote has connected.
Samsung says the Smart Remote works with one device at a time. If you switch it to another compatible Samsung TV or device, repeat the pairing steps. Button layouts and instructions may differ by model; use the manual for your exact TV and remote if those buttons are absent. Samsung’s Smart Remote pairing instructions provide the supported steps.

Set up the Fire TV remote for Samsung TV power and volume

- Test and adjust. Try power and volume. If they do not behave as expected, revisit the equipment settings and adjust the TV brand or volume-control options.
Menu wording can differ across models. For Samsung’s guidance on this setup, see Control your Samsung TV with third-party remotes.
Register the Fire device in Samsung Universal Remote
Samsung also provides a TV-side setup for registering an HDMI-connected external device. Its instructions include Amazon Fire devices under OTT Box/Game console. This registers the device and HDMI port with the TV; it is distinct from pairing the Samsung Smart Remote to the TV or configuring the Fire TV remote to control TV power and volume.
