Stellar Blade on PC supports PlayStation controllers, and the simplest officially recommended setup is a DualSense connected by wired USB. If a controller is detected but inputs or features behave incorrectly, check Steam’s per-game controller setting and test one change at a time. DualShock 4 guidance depends on the adapter you use.
Which controller setup is documented?
The official Steam listing recommends a PlayStation DualSense over wired USB and says the game supports responsive vibrations. It also supports mouse and keyboard. PlayStation’s PC feature page lists DualSense wireless controller support with haptic feedback, but that does not establish that every haptic feature works wirelessly in every PC configuration.

If you already own a compatible controller, there is no need to buy a DualSense just to try playing. For the setup Steam specifically recommends, connect the DualSense to the PC with a USB cable and launch the Steam version through Steam. Set up a controller in Steam
- Connect the controller. For DualSense, begin with a wired USB connection, as recommended on Steam’s official listing.
- Confirm the PC and Steam recognize it. If the controller is not connected or visible to Steam, solve that connection problem before changing game mappings. The available official support material does not specify a complete Windows device-diagnostic procedure.
- Launch the game from Steam and test basic inputs. Check whether buttons and sticks work, then check whether the prompts and controller features you expect are present.
- Review the game’s per-title Steam controller setting if needed. Change one setting at a time, then retest. Restart the game if necessary so the change takes effect.
Steam Input behavior may affect some partial controller features, according to the community-maintained SteamInputDB page for Stellar Blade. Treat that as a troubleshooting lead, not official documentation or a guarantee that switching Steam Input on or off will fix a particular issue.

DualShock 4: the adapter changes the advice
In a Steam Community reply dated June 2, 2025, a SHIFT UP developer account said the official Sony DualShock 4 USB wireless adapter should work as intended. The same response said Steam Input must be enabled for a DualShock 4 used with a generic Bluetooth adapter. Fix common controller problems
Steam or the PC does not detect the controller
Do not start by changing in-game mappings: first resolve the connection or recognition issue at the PC or Steam level. The official sources cited here do not document exact Windows settings or a particular driver fix, so avoid assuming that an unsupported driver download or third-party remapper is required.

The controller is detected, but inputs or features are wrong
Check the per-game Steam controller setting. If Steam Input is enabled and the controller is otherwise detected, you can disable it for a test; change only that setting, then restart or retest the game. This is not the same case as a DualShock 4 connected through a generic Bluetooth adapter, for which SHIFT UP’s response says Steam Input is needed.

Retest the prompts and functions after each setting change. Controller behavior can vary with Steam Input and game updates. If the issue continues, use Steam’s Stellar Blade gameplay or technical issue support route rather than relying on an unverified fix.

What is—and is not—confirmed for other controllers
The official material cited here does not provide a controller-by-controller feature matrix for Xbox, Switch, generic XInput, or third-party pads. It therefore does not establish that those controllers expose the same features as DualSense, or that their button prompts and vibration behave identically. If using one of them, verify basic input first and troubleshoot Steam Input only if there is a specific detection or feature problem.
Steam’s official technical support page lists Windows 10 64-bit, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12, and 75 GB storage among the minimum PC requirements. These are general game requirements, not controller-specific fixes; consult the Steam technical issue page for the full requirements.
