1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo stream a prerecorded video live on YouTube with a cloud encoder, enable live streaming on your channel, upload or select your video in a cloud service, connect that service to YouTube, then start or schedule the broadcast. The cloud service sends the video, so your own computer does not have to stay on. YouTube’s general encoder workflow uses a server URL and stream key; some services instead connect through YouTube account authorization.
What a cloud encoder does
A prerecorded video does not become a YouTube Live broadcast simply by being uploaded as a regular video. An encoder sends the video to YouTube’s live ingestion system as a stream. With a cloud encoder, that sending process runs on the service’s servers rather than on your computer. Depending on the service, it may also store your files, arrange them into a playlist, loop them, or let you schedule a start.
Those playlist, looping, storage, and scheduling features vary by provider. For example, Gyre describes a workflow of uploading videos, building a playlist, connecting a YouTube channel, and starting or scheduling the stream. Treat those as Gyre’s service features, not as capabilities guaranteed by every cloud encoder.
Before you start
- Enable YouTube live streaming. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so do this before a time-sensitive broadcast.
- Prepare the source video. Check that the selected service accepts its file format, resolution, frame rate, and size. Storage limits and supported media vary by service.
- Decide whether to use a scheduled broadcast. Scheduling can give you a shareable watch URL and allow viewers to set reminders. If you use YouTube’s scheduled encoder workflow, you still need to start the encoder and wait for its preview to arrive before going live.
- Keep the stream key private. It is a credential that lets an encoder send video to your channel. Do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to stream there.
- Check rights and channel eligibility. Use video and audio you have permission to stream, and review YouTube’s current policies and channel requirements before broadcasting. A live stream being prerecorded does not remove copyright or other policy obligations. A successful broadcast also does not by itself establish eligibility for monetization.
Set up and start the cloud stream
1. Confirm live access on YouTube
In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go Live. If live streaming has not been activated on the channel, complete YouTube’s activation process and allow up to 24 hours for first-time access. The exact interface labels can change.

2. Upload the video and build the stream in the cloud service
Choose a cloud encoder that supports prerecorded media. Upload or select the file there; if the service supports playlists, arrange the videos in the order you want them to play. Check the provider’s current storage, file, resolution, frame-rate, scheduling, and simultaneous-stream limits before relying on a particular setup. A service’s ability to loop or schedule is provider-specific.
3. Connect the service to your YouTube channel
Follow the connection method offered by the service. It may request YouTube account authorization, or it may provide fields for YouTube’s live server URL and stream key. In the latter case, copy the URL and key from the relevant YouTube stream setup and paste them into the cloud encoder’s YouTube destination settings. Do not substitute an endpoint from an unrelated tutorial: use the endpoint YouTube or the selected integration provides for this stream.
Some services let you reuse a stream key with prior stream settings. Reuse is convenient, but treat the key as a channel credential and rotate or replace it if it is exposed.
4. Create or schedule the YouTube broadcast
In YouTube Studio, use Create → Go Live to create a broadcast, or open the Manage tab and choose Schedule Stream if that option is available in your workflow. Add the title, description, visibility, and start time, then save the scheduled event. Scheduling through YouTube and scheduling through a cloud service are separate controls; do not assume that setting a schedule in one automatically configures the other.

5. Start the cloud encoder and confirm the preview
Start the playlist or video in the cloud service. For a scheduled encoder stream, wait for the incoming video preview to appear in YouTube’s Live Control Room, then select Go live. Confirm that the broadcast is actually live on YouTube and monitor the preview or stream-health indicators available in your workflow. API-managed integrations can also expose stream status and health information, but ordinary users do not need to use the API to start a stream.
6. End the broadcast and check the archive
When the broadcast is finished, stop the stream in the cloud service and use YouTube’s End Stream control as directed by the interface. YouTube’s help guidance says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume the same automatic archive outcome for a longer broadcast.
Connection and stream settings that matter
Use the supplied ingestion endpoint and protocol
YouTube’s encoder workflow provides a live server URL and stream key. Google also documents RTMPS, which is RTMP carried over an SSL connection; its documented requirements include a valid YouTube ingestion endpoint, the RTMPS scheme, and port 443. Use the protocol and endpoint supplied for your actual stream or integration rather than copying an example address from a different setup.
Do not guess bitrate or encoding values
The appropriate resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe interval depend on the source file, encoder, and current YouTube guidance. The cloud service may expose those settings or manage them itself. Follow the current recommendations shown by YouTube and the encoder; do not force the source into a different profile unless the service or YouTube workflow requires it. If preserving the uploaded file exactly matters, verify whether the service re-encodes it and what formats it accepts before uploading.

Separate stream delivery from channel policy
A healthy incoming stream means the encoder is delivering media; it does not guarantee that the video complies with YouTube’s rules or that a channel qualifies for monetization. Review YouTube’s current copyright, Community Guidelines, and monetization requirements for the content and channel. In particular, do not assume that repeatedly looping material you do not own or have permission to use is allowed.
Choosing a cloud workflow
Compare services on the constraints that affect your broadcast, not just whether they advertise “24/7” streaming:
- Supported file formats, resolution, and frame rate.
- Storage included and how storage is allocated.
- Playlist, loop, scheduling, and stream-recovery behavior.
- How the service connects to YouTube: authorization or stream URL and key.
- Number of simultaneous streams and current price.
- How you monitor the stream and what happens if YouTube disconnects it.
YouTube’s encoder directory also lists the AJA HELO Plus, a hardware encoder with optional PlayToStream functionality for scheduling prerecorded media to YouTube Live. It is a physical-device alternative, not a cloud service, and is not required for the workflow above. Desktop encoder software is another option for one-off streams and manual control, but the computer and its network connection must remain available while it sends the video. A cloud encoder moves that continuous sending task off the local machine.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud to YouTube; it does not stream a camera feed or broadcast to other platforms. Your computer can be off, the service can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream, and each slot streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no quality tiers. The first day is free with no card. The monthly option is $9.99 per month.

You cannot start a live stream
Likely cause: Live streaming is not enabled on the channel, or first-time activation is still processing. What to do: Check live access in YouTube Studio and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation before troubleshooting the encoder.
YouTube shows no incoming preview
Likely cause: The cloud stream has not started, the destination settings are wrong, or the stream key does not match the intended broadcast. What to do: Confirm the service is playing the selected media, then verify the server URL and key against the YouTube setup for that stream. Keep the key private while checking it.
The scheduled event is not live at its start time
Likely cause: Scheduling the event did not start the encoder, or the stream preview has not reached Live Control Room. What to do: Start the cloud stream, wait for the preview, and select Go live in YouTube when the scheduled encoder workflow requires it.

The video stops or the connection drops
Likely cause: The encoder or service lost its connection to YouTube, or the provider does not automatically restart the stream. What to do: Check the cloud service’s status and YouTube’s stream-health information, then follow the provider’s recovery procedure. Confirm recovery behavior before relying on a service for unattended broadcasting.
The file will not upload or play correctly
Likely cause: The file exceeds the provider’s storage or format limits, or its encoding is unsupported. What to do: Check the service’s current media requirements and available storage, then prepare a compatible file. Do not assume two cloud encoders accept the same formats or resolutions.
The stream works, but the content or archive is unavailable
Likely cause: A policy or rights issue, or a broadcast longer than YouTube’s stated automatic-archive window. What to do: Review current channel and content policies, confirm you have the necessary rights, and check the broadcast’s archive status in YouTube Studio instead of assuming every stream will be archived automatically.
