Older Apple operating systems
Starting with Companion app version 2026.8.0, support ended for iOS 15, watchOS 8, and macOS 11. Version 2026.7.1 is the last compatible release for those systems. The July 7, 2026 announcement says that last compatible version will remain available on the App Store and lists minimums of iOS 16.4, watchOS 9, and macOS 12. Older iOS devices can still access the Home Assistant frontend in a browser. See Home Assistant’s support announcement for the change and its details.
In that announcement, Home Assistant said fewer than 1% of its users were running the affected older operating-system versions. The figure is the organization’s statement, not an independently audited measurement. The post cited expected changes to Apple developer-tool support from September 2026 as a reason for ending compatibility.

If an update or feature is missing
-
No Update button: Check the installed app’s store listing and your device’s operating-system compatibility. Older Apple systems may be limited to their last compatible app version.
-
A feature does not appear to work: Confirm the correct platform column and, on Android, Full versus Minimal. Then verify the app connects to the intended server.
-
You need a capability that the app does not support on your platform: Consult the feature overview for alternatives or platform-specific notes rather than assuming feature parity across Android, iOS, watchOS, and macOS.
