For a mailing list in the Yahoo Mail app, open one of its messages, tap More, then tap Unsubscribe. If that option is missing, use the Unsubscribe tab if it’s available. In New Yahoo Mail on desktop, Yahoo may offer an unsubscribe choice when you mark a trusted mailing-list message as spam. Unsubscribing, reporting spam and blocking a sender do different things, so choose the action that matches what you want to stop.
Choose the right action for the email

In New Yahoo Mail, Yahoo may show Unsubscribe while you report a trusted mailing-list sender. Choose it to leave the list; choose Report as spam when the message should instead be treated as spam. Unsubscribe from a mailing list in the Yahoo Mail app
- Open a message from the mailing list you want to leave.
- Tap More, then tap Unsubscribe.
- If there is no unsubscribe option in the message view, open the Unsubscribe tab, find the list, tap Unsubscribe, and confirm.

Unsubscribe in New Yahoo Mail on desktop
- Select the mailing-list message.
- Choose Mark as spam.
- If Yahoo offers Unsubscribe for that trusted sender, select it to leave the list. If you want the message treated as spam, choose Report as spam instead.

When there is no unsubscribe option
For a recognizable list, check the Yahoo Mail app’s Unsubscribe tab. If the message is unwanted or suspicious rather than a list you knowingly joined, report it as spam instead of engaging with the sender. Yahoo advises against replying to unknown senders or to subscription emails asking you to be removed. It also warns against sites that claim to remove your address from spam lists: some may collect addresses for spammers. Yahoo Help: Manage spam and mailing lists in New Yahoo Mail
Stop marketing emails sent by Yahoo
- Open the Yahoo marketing email.
- Use the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of the message.
- Confirm the change when prompted.
This route is for Yahoo newsletters, special offers, marketing messages and Premium Services product updates. Yahoo says an opt-out can take up to 10 days to take effect. Marketing preferences apply to email sent by Yahoo, not third-party messages sent through Yahoo servers; they also do not cover essential service notices. If emails continue after you unsubscribe
- Check who sent the message. Yahoo marketing preferences affect Yahoo-originated marketing, not a third party’s email. A message that looks like it came from Yahoo could also be impersonating Yahoo, so check the sender before following links.
- Check which message type you opted out of. Unsubscribing from one list or changing Yahoo marketing preferences does not necessarily stop other categories of messages.
- Allow for processing time on Yahoo marketing opt-outs. Yahoo says its opt-out may take up to 10 days; that timeframe applies to Yahoo communications, not every mailing list.
- Use Spam for messages that remain unwanted or suspicious. Reporting spam is a separate action from leaving a legitimate list.

Block a sender or an entire brand
Block one sender address
Yahoo’s older desktop instructions place individual sender blocking under Settings > More Settings > Security and Privacy. The older help page states a limit of up to 1,000 blocked addresses; it does not state a publication date. New Yahoo Mail has a corresponding blocked-address setting, but the exact path differs by interface. Yahoo Help: Block email addresses in Yahoo Mail

Block a brand domain with Mail Plus
Yahoo documents domain blocking for Mail Plus subscribers and says it also unsubscribes you from that brand. Its help page states a limit of up to 500 blocked domains while subscribed; availability may vary by account. Domain blocking is broader than leaving one mailing list. Yahoo’s instructions cover several interfaces, and labels or availability can vary. If a documented control is missing, use Yahoo Mail’s current app or webmail interface and select the closest matching action for the message.
