You can uninstall the Oculus PC app through Windows Start, Settings, or Control Panel. Those are standard Windows removal routes, not a guarantee that every related file, service, driver, or registry entry is erased. Here’s how to remove the Windows program and what to do if the normal uninstall fails.
Uninstall the Oculus PC app from Windows
These instructions apply to the Oculus Windows app on Windows 10 and Windows 11. Try the routes in order; the available option can depend on how the program is registered with Windows.
Option 1: Use the Start menu
- Open Start and select All apps.
- Find the Oculus app in the list, then right-click it—or press and hold it on a touchscreen.
- Select Uninstall and follow any prompts.
Option 2: Use Windows Settings
- Open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find the Oculus app and select More (the three-dot menu).
- Select Uninstall and follow the prompts.
Option 3: Use Control Panel
If the app is missing from Settings or Windows does not offer an uninstall option there, try Control Panel. Microsoft notes that some programs cannot currently be uninstalled through Settings.
- Search Windows for Control Panel and open it.
- Select Programs > Programs and Features.
- Select the Oculus program, choose Uninstall or Uninstall/Change, and follow the instructions.
Microsoft describes these as alternative ways to remove apps and programs: uninstall or remove apps and programs in Windows.

What “removing all traces” can—and cannot—mean
A successful Windows uninstall removes the program through its registered uninstall process, but the official Windows guidance does not promise that every associated file, service, driver, or registry entry will be removed. The official material cited here does not provide a current Meta-approved checklist for eliminating every possible remnant. So, treat the steps above as uninstalling the PC app—not as proof of a complete system-wide cleanup.
A related action in the Oculus app or Home library is different: removing an app from that list does not uninstall the Windows program. Meta’s developer documentation describes the library-list action here: remove an app from the Oculus App or Home list.

If the uninstall fails
If Windows reports an error while uninstalling, Microsoft points users to the Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter. Use it for an uninstall problem rather than deleting files or registry entries manually; the documented Windows routes do not establish which individual remnants are safe to remove.
If you meant an app on a Quest headset
Uninstalling an app on a Quest headset is separate from removing the Oculus PC app. Meta says uninstalling a Quest app removes its local data but does not delete its Cloud Backups. Manage backups separately from Meta’s Cloud Backups page or the headset’s Cloud Backup settings. Deleting a backup is permanent.

Optional: collect logs before removing a faulty installation
If the PC app is malfunctioning and you may need support, Meta documents OculusLogGatherer.exe as a troubleshooting utility included with the installation. It is located in the installation folder under Support > oculus-diagnostics and requires local administrator privileges. It gathers troubleshooting logs; it is not an uninstall tool.
