To restore the screenshot pop-up, enable notifications and notification banners for Snipping Tool in Settings > System > Notifications. If the alert still does not appear, check whether Do not disturb is on and look for the notification in Notification Center.
Turn on Snipping Tool notifications and banners

Open Start > Settings > System > Notifications.

Make sure the main Notifications switch is on. Windows also provides controls for individual apps, so enabling notifications globally is not enough by itself.

Under notifications from apps and other senders, select Snipping Tool. Turn on its notifications and Show notification banners. Turn on sound only if you want an audible alert.

Press Windows logo key + Shift + S to open the Snipping Tool capture overlay, then take a screenshot. Microsoft documents this shortcut as a way to open the overlay: Use Snipping Tool to capture screenshots.

For the Snipping Tool workflow, Microsoft says a notification appears when the screenshot is finished; selecting it opens the image in the Snipping Tool editor. See Copy the window or screen contents. This guidance is specific to Snipping Tool; other capture apps or screenshot methods may behave differently.
Fix a missing screenshot pop-up
Check the system and app switches
If no alert appears, return to Settings > System > Notifications. Confirm that both the overall Notifications control and Snipping Tool notifications are on. To show a pop-up, also enable Show notification banners for Snipping Tool. Windows documents these system and app-level controls in Notifications and Do Not Disturb in Windows.
Check Do not disturb and Notification Center
Do not disturb can suppress ordinary banners while leaving notifications available in Notification Center. Open Notification Center by selecting the clock or notification bell, or press Windows key + N. If the screenshot alert is there, the notification was generated but its banner was suppressed. If this happens regularly, review Do not disturb’s automatic schedule or conditions. Microsoft explains how focus settings affect notifications in Make it easier to focus on tasks.
If Snipping Tool is missing from the app list
Search Settings for Notifications, take a screenshot with Snipping Tool, and check the app list again. If Snipping Tool still does not appear, consult current Windows or Snipping Tool support guidance; Microsoft’s cited notification instructions do not establish a universal fix for this situation.

If this is a work or school PC
Some notification controls can be affected by organization management. Microsoft notes this for Windows Security settings, but that does not establish that every Snipping Tool notification option is controlled by policy. If a setting is unavailable or keeps reverting, ask your organization’s IT administrator whether your device has a relevant restriction.
