To leave an active voice conversation in Claude for iOS or Android, tap the X. Anthropic calls this control “Exit.”
Exit an active voice conversation
- In the Claude mobile app, while voice mode is open, tap the X.
- Claude exits the voice-mode interface. Anthropic’s instructions are for its iOS and Android apps; see Anthropic’s voice-mode guide.
Stop Claude speaking without exiting
If Claude is speaking and you only want to interrupt the response, tap the stop-square control. It stops the current speech; it is not the X control for leaving voice mode.

Does this permanently disable voice mode?
Anthropic’s mobile voice-mode guidance documents how to enter and exit the feature, but does not confirm a personal setting that permanently turns voice mode off or removes its entry point. The X exits the active interface; it is not documented as a persistent off switch.

Voice mode and dictation are different
Voice mode supports spoken conversations and spoken responses. Dictation instead turns your spoken prompt into text for a text response. Exiting voice mode does not mean dictation has been disabled; Anthropic describes dictation separately in its Claude Mobile dictation guide.

Does leaving voice mode delete the conversation?
No. Anthropic says voice transcripts and summarized voice notes are saved in chat history like text conversations. Tapping X leaves voice mode; it is not a chat-history deletion action. See Anthropic’s voice-mode guide.
