How to Turn Off the Case Lights on an iBUYPOWER PC

iBUYPOWER case lighting can use a remote, case controller, motherboard software, or component-specific controls. Find the right option and handle shutdown lighting separately.

There isn’t one universal switch for iBUYPOWER case lighting. Depending on your PC, turn it off with the included RGB remote, a case or fan controller, or the matching motherboard or component software. If the lights stay on only after shutdown, that is a separate power-setting issue.

Try the control that came with your PC first

iBUYPOWER says lighting may be controlled by a remote, motherboard software, manual controls, or more than one of these. A PC can also have separate lighting systems, so one control may turn off some lights but not others. See the iBUYPOWER support resources for its RGB guidance.

  1. Check for an RGB remote. If one was included, press its On/Off button. Some remotes have an “M/B Hold 3s” control that switches between remote and motherboard control. On a PC that does not support motherboard control, the lights may remain off until you switch back to remote control. The iBUYPOWER RGB Quick Start Guide describes these controls.
  2. Look for a case or fan lighting button. Some lighting controllers use a physical button, but its location and operation vary by case and hardware. iBUYPOWER describes manual controls for some RGB products in its RGB Guide.
  3. If lighting is software-controlled, identify the hardware before choosing an app. Motherboard software may control lights connected to the board, while other components may use a separate ecosystem. Follow the steps below to identify the motherboard and find the relevant software route.

Find the matching RGB software

Identify your motherboard in Windows

  1. Press Windows+R to open Run.
  2. Enter msinfo32 and press Enter.
  3. In System Information, note Baseboard Manufacturer and Baseboard Product.
  4. Use those details to find the matching software guidance in the iBUYPOWER RGB Hub.

The Hub lists motherboard software such as ASRock Polychrome, ASUS Armoury Crate, Gigabyte Control Center, and MSI Center. It also provides control routes for some coolers, fans, light strips, and cases. The right option depends on your specific components; a motherboard app may not control every light in the case.

Use third-party RGB apps cautiously

The iBUYPOWER RGB Hub notes that SignalRGB or OpenRGB may work with compatible hardware, but iBUYPOWER does not guarantee compatibility with every RGB product. Don’t assume an app will detect or control your system without checking the hardware involved.

If the lights stay on after shutdown or sleep

Lights that are on while Windows is running need a different fix from lights that remain powered after shutdown or sleep. iBUYPOWER documents two relevant options for certain ASRock motherboards: “Turn On Onboard LED in S5” controls whether onboard header LEDs stay lit in the S5 shutdown state, while “Deep Sleep” affects power behavior across S4/S5 and can deactivate some powered accessories.

These names and instructions apply to the ASRock boards covered by iBUYPOWER’s Troubleshooting 104: RGB Guide; other motherboards may use different settings or labels. Check your own motherboard manual or contact support rather than looking for those exact options on every system.

Choose the control path that fits

Control path When it applies What to do
Included remote Your PC has a remote-controlled RGB controller. Try On/Off. Use the motherboard toggle only if your PC supports motherboard control.
Case or fan button/controller Your lighting hardware has a manual control. Use the physical control; its location and operation vary.
Motherboard RGB software The lights are connected to, or exposed through, motherboard RGB control. Match the software to your motherboard and check whether it controls the lights in question.
Component-specific software A case, fan, strip, or other device uses its own control ecosystem. Identify the component and consult the RGB Hub or the component maker’s official guidance.
BIOS shutdown-light settings Lights remain on after shutdown or sleep. Check the motherboard’s own documentation; the named settings above are documented for certain ASRock boards.

When to contact support

If only some lights work, a disconnected RGB cable may be involved, but opening the case is not the first step for simply turning lighting off. iBUYPOWER warns: “Always make sure the computer is completely off and unplugged while working inside of it.” If you are unsure about internal work, don’t disconnect wiring; use the iBUYPOWER Support page to find support options. Have your PC model and, if known, the lighting component details ready so support can help identify the correct control.
