To turn off all Apple Intelligence features, open Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri on iPhone or iPad, or System Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri on Mac, then turn off Apple Intelligence. If you only want to stop Siri’s newer AI experience or a specific summary, use the separate controls available on some newer software versions instead.
Turn off all Apple Intelligence on iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apple Intelligence & Siri.
- Turn off the control next to Apple Intelligence.

Turn off Apple Intelligence on Mac
- Open System Settings.
- Click Apple Intelligence & Siri.
- Turn off the control next to Apple Intelligence.

Turn off Siri AI but keep Siri Classic
Apple’s newer OS 27 instructions distinguish Siri AI (Beta) from Siri Classic. Where your device offers this choice, you can turn Siri off and then turn it back on with the classic assistant selected; this is different from turning off the whole Apple Intelligence suite.

On iPhone
- Open Settings > Siri.
- Scroll down, tap Turn Off Siri, and confirm.
- Turn Siri back on and choose Siri Classic when prompted.
On Mac
- Open System Settings > Siri.
- Click Turn Off Siri and confirm.
- Turn Siri back on and choose Use Siri Classic.
These choices are described in Apple’s iPhone Siri instructions and Mac Siri instructions. Availability depends on software and device; use the wording displayed on your screen.
Disable only selected AI features
If you want to keep other Apple Intelligence functions, turn off the individual feature rather than the master switch. Apple lists the following controls in its iPhone feature settings guide. Locations can differ on Mac, so consult Apple’s Mac feature settings guide.

What happens when you turn Apple Intelligence off?
Apple says that turning off Apple Intelligence removes its downloaded on-device models. This applies to the models used for Apple Intelligence; Apple’s cited guidance does not say that the switch erases other personal data or disables AI features in third-party apps. If you turn the feature on again, on-device models may need to download. Apple says download time varies and recommends Wi-Fi and power for a faster download.
Why you may not see the same controls
Apple Intelligence availability depends on the device, operating-system version, language, region, and feature. Apple lists compatible hardware including iPhone 15 Pro models and iPhone 16 models or later; iPad mini (A17 Pro) and iPads with M1 or later; Apple silicon Macs; and Apple Vision Pro. Its listed minimum software versions are iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, macOS Sequoia 15.1, visionOS 2.4, and watchOS 11. Apple Watch features require pairing with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone. The device and Siri languages must match a supported language, and availability also varies by region and feature. Check Apple’s compatibility and availability information for current requirements.
