To turn off RCS on your iPhone, go to Settings > Apps > Messages > RCS Messaging, then switch off RCS Messaging. If the option is missing, RCS may not be available for your carrier, plan, or region.
Turn off RCS Messaging
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps, then Messages.
- Tap RCS Messaging.
- Switch off RCS Messaging.

If RCS Messaging isn’t in Settings
Apple says that if the RCS Messaging setting does not appear, RCS messaging might not be available. Apple lists iOS 18 and a mobile data plan with a carrier that supports RCS on iPhone as requirements; availability also varies by carrier and region. Check that your iPhone is running iOS 18 or later, then ask your carrier whether RCS is supported on iPhone for your plan and region. Apple Support
Turn off only RCS business alerts
If you want to stop business messages such as transaction or order updates but keep RCS conversations available, open the same RCS Messaging settings screen and switch off RCS Business Messages. This control is separate from the main RCS Messaging switch. Apple Support

What changes when RCS is off
Apple describes RCS as a carrier-provided messaging service used when iMessage is not being used. RCS supports high-resolution photos and videos, links, delivery and read receipts, and typing indicators; it can use Wi-Fi or mobile data. RCS messages appear in green bubbles. Apple Support
Turning off RCS does not mean all green-bubble messages stop. SMS and MMS also appear in green bubbles, so bubble color alone does not tell you whether a conversation is using RCS. Apple Support: Set up Messages on iPhone
