To turn off Apple Intelligence across your iPhone, open Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri and tap the control next to Apple Intelligence. If you only want to stop a particular feature, such as notification summaries, use that feature’s own settings instead.
Turn off Apple Intelligence across your iPhone
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Apple Intelligence & Siri.
- Tap the control next to Apple Intelligence to turn it off.
Apple’s iPhone guide gives this instruction: “Go to the Settings app, tap Apple Intelligence & Siri, then tap the button next to Apple Intelligence.” Apple Support: Use Apple Intelligence on your iPhone notes that the option shown can depend on your iOS version and whether Apple Intelligence was previously set up. If the menu path differs, search for “Apple Intelligence” in Settings.

Turn off only a specific feature
You do not have to disable Apple Intelligence globally to stop an individual function. Apple documents separate controls for features including message, email, and notification summaries. Check the relevant feature’s settings and switch off its summary option if that is the only change you want. Apple Support: Change Apple Intelligence settings.

To restrict access to selected categories rather than switch off Apple Intelligence for everyone using the device, go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Intelligence & Siri. Adjust the categories you want to restrict. Apple’s examples include Writing Tools, image creation, and Intelligence Extensions. Apple Support: Set content and privacy restrictions.

What happens when you switch it off?
Apple says turning off Apple Intelligence removes its on-device models from the iPhone. Apple also lists 7 GB of on-device storage as a system requirement for Apple Intelligence, but that figure is not a promise that switching the feature off will free exactly 7 GB. Apple’s support article lists iPhone 15 Pro models and iPhone 16 models or later, with iOS 18.1 or later, as baseline requirements. Availability also depends on supported language and region, as well as compatible hardware and software. Apple Support: How to get Apple Intelligence.
