The Audient iD4 has no dedicated power-off button: it gets power through USB. To turn it off, disconnect its USB cable from the computer or switch off the computer supplying power. The green USB status LED should go out. Speaker mute and the 48 V switch do different jobs; neither powers down the interface.

Stop playback or recording. If you are monitoring through connected speakers, mute them or lower their level first to avoid an abrupt change.

For an iD4 connected through a powered USB hub, switch off the hub or its port if it has a physical switch. Otherwise, disconnect the iD4’s USB cable. Audient’s iOS setup guidance requires a powered hub and camera adapter cable because an iPad or iPhone cannot power the iD4 directly; the hub is not a special shutdown accessory.
Choose the control that matches your goal
| What you want | What to do | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Remove power from the interface | Disconnect USB, or switch off the computer or powered hub supplying it. | The iD4 powers down; its green USB status LED goes out. |
| Silence connected speakers | Press the speaker-mute button. | The monitors are muted, but the iD4 remains powered. |
| Disable microphone phantom power | Switch off the rear-panel 48 V control. | Phantom power is disabled; the iD4 remains powered. |
Audient’s 2023 specifications list USB bus power as 500 mA at 5 V system limit, and 420 mA at 5 V maximum without 48 V phantom power. The same specifications list phantom power separately as 48 V ±4 V at 10 mA per channel. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements.

Should you leave the iD4 connected?
Audient’s published documentation reviewed here does not establish that leaving the iD4 powered continuously is either safe or unsafe, nor does it prescribe a routine shutdown schedule. If you want it off, remove its USB power as described above. For lightning storms or long periods when the equipment will be unused, Audient’s manual says: “Switch off your computer and unplug this equipment during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.”

A dropout after inactivity or when waking a computer from sleep is not the normal way to turn the interface off. Audient says rare cases are usually related to Windows USB power-management settings. Its support guidance recommends checking the USB controller settings and the iD4-associated USB Input Device:

The title may refer to the original iD4 or the iD4 MKII. Their connector details can differ, so check the port on your specific unit before buying a replacement cable. A new cable or a dedicated power switch is not required to turn off a working iD4.
