To turn off a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, press and hold the Side button and Volume Down together until the power menu appears, then tap Power off. You can also swipe down to open the notification panel, tap the power icon, and choose Power off. These steps are documented for the Galaxy Z Flip6; labels and behavior can vary on other models and software versions.
Turn off your Galaxy Z Flip with the buttons
- Press and hold the Side button and Volume Down at the same time.
- When the power menu appears, tap Power off.
- If prompted to confirm, tap Power off again.

Turn it off from the screen
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notification panel or Quick Settings.
- Tap the power icon.
- Tap Power off, then confirm if prompted.
The notification-panel method is included in Samsung’s Z Flip6 guide. On other Galaxy models, the panel layout or the number of swipes needed to reach Quick Settings may differ.

If holding the Side button by itself opens Bixby, change its press-and-hold action in Settings. Look for Side button or Side button settings, then set Press and hold to Power off menu. Samsung’s menu wording and paths can vary by model and software version, so use the closest matching Side button setting on your phone.

If the phone is frozen
If the screen is unresponsive, hold the Side button and Volume Down together for more than 7 seconds to force a restart. Samsung lists this recovery step for the Galaxy Z Flip6. It restarts the phone; it is not the normal Power off command.
