On Apple TV 4K, open Settings > AirPlay and Apple Home > AirPlay, then switch AirPlay on or off. To stop just one stream or mirror, end it on the iPhone, iPad, or Mac that started it instead.
Turn AirPlay on or off on Apple TV 4K
- Open Settings on your Apple TV 4K.
- Select AirPlay and Apple Home.
- Select AirPlay, then turn it on or off. Apple describes this switch as controlling whether devices can stream content to that Apple TV 4K. See Apple’s AirPlay and Apple Home settings guide.
Limit who can connect without turning AirPlay off
If you want AirPlay to remain available but restrict who can use it, go to Settings > AirPlay and Apple Home > Allow Access. Apple lists these choices:

Stop one active AirPlay stream or screen mirror
Switching AirPlay off on Apple TV affects whether devices can stream to the receiver. If your goal is only to end a current session, stop it from the device that began sharing:

- iPhone or iPad: Open Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring, then tap Stop Mirroring.
- Mac: Open Screen Mirroring or the AirPlay menu and stop mirroring to Apple TV.

- Check that AirPlay is turned on in Apple TV settings.
- Check that the sending device and Apple TV meet Apple’s network and compatibility conditions. Apple notes that an iPhone, iPad, or Mac and Apple TV 4K may need to be connected to the same network.
