For a stable starting point in The Sinking City 2, change graphics options from the title screen, keep DLSS at Balanced or a higher-quality mode, and avoid DLSS Performance and Ultra Performance unless you have no workable alternative. Frogwares warns those lower DLSS modes can cause instability and visual artifacts. If performance still falls short, lower output resolution or video settings, then compare the upscalers available in your installed version. Frogwares’ known-issues guidance and Update 1.1.0 notes are version-specific; there is no published controlled comparison establishing one universally best preset or upscaler.
Start with a baseline you can compare
Before changing anything, note your GPU, display resolution and refresh rate, and whether the game is currently using TSR, DLSS, or FSR. Change settings at the title screen: Frogwares says adjustments during gameplay can cause visual bugs and recommends making changes there instead. After each change, revisit the same repeatable scene so you can judge image quality and performance on your own system rather than relying on unlike scenes or estimates.

- Open the game’s title screen before adjusting graphics options.
- Record the current output resolution, upscaler and mode, visual preset, and Frame Generation status.
- Change one major setting at a time, then revisit the same scene and compare both smoothness and visible artifacts.
Choose a resolution and quality level
Start at your display’s native resolution if performance is adequate. If it is not, Frogwares’ troubleshooting advice is to lower a 4K or 2K output to Full HD or below, reduce video settings, and try another upscaler. Lower resolution can improve performance, but it also changes image clarity; compare the result on your display before deciding whether the trade-off is worthwhile. The developer does not publish a universal setting combination or per-GPU frame-rate results.

| Minimum | Windows 11 x64; Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X; 16 GB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD RX 5700 with 8 GB VRAM; DirectX 12; SSD | 1080p at 30 fps on Low, evaluated using TSR or comparable technology |
| Recommended | Windows 11 x64; Intel Core i5-14600K or AMD Ryzen 5 7600X; 32 GB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti or AMD RX 7900 XT with 12 GB VRAM; DirectX 12; SSD | 1440p at 60 fps on Medium, evaluated using TSR or comparable technology |
These are Frogwares’ specifications and targets as listed on Steam in 2026, not independent benchmark findings. Steam’s use of TSR or comparable technology in its evaluation also means the listed resolution targets should not be read as native-rendering promises.
Pick an upscaler without assuming one is universally best
DLSS
If you use DLSS, Frogwares recommends Balanced or above. Its known-issues page says Performance and Ultra Performance are highly unstable and may cause artifacts, ghosting, or other visual problems. Treat those modes as last resorts, not default performance settings.

FSR and TSR
Frogwares added AMD FSR 4.1.1 to PC Video settings in Update 1.1.0, so older launch-era claims that the game has no FSR are out of date. TSR is also referenced in Steam’s performance targets. Try the options present in your installed version and compare them at the same output resolution and scene. The available official material does not provide controlled image-quality or frame-time data to rank TSR, DLSS, and FSR for all hardware.
Low preset
Low is available for lower-end graphics cards; Frogwares names NVIDIA 1000-series cards and AMD equivalents as examples. The developer cautions that Low may produce artifacts and glitches, so use it only if higher settings do not provide workable performance.

Use Frame Generation only when your system supports it
Frogwares’ FAQ says DLSS Frame Generation requires an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40- or 50-series GPU and Windows Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling enabled. It is an optional setting, not a substitute for adequate underlying performance. If you enable it with a 60 Hz monitor, the FAQ advises turning V-Sync off. The available guidance does not establish a frame-rate gain for a specific GPU.
Check the installed version for current graphics features
Update 1.1.0 added FSR 4.1.1, HDR output, HDR10+ support, and a Legacy mode for NVIDIA DLSS. The patch notes say HDR follows the system HDR setting and is not forced on when system HDR is disabled. They also describe changes to rendering: Quality mode uses strand-based hair, improved Lumen lighting, and higher-quality reflections, while Performance mode renders at a higher internal resolution. These details are patch-dependent, so the options and behavior may differ if your game is on another build. Read Frogwares’ Update 1.1.0 notes.

A practical order for troubleshooting low performance
- Return to the title screen before applying changes, to reduce the risk of visual bugs from changing settings during play.
- Lower output resolution if you are playing at 2K or 4K and performance is insufficient; try Full HD or below.
- Reduce the visual preset or video settings and check the same scene again.
- Compare available upscalers. For DLSS, stay at Balanced or above as the developer-supported stability baseline.
- Consider Frame Generation only if eligible, and apply the stated scheduling and 60 Hz V-Sync guidance.
These steps follow Team Frogwares’ performance FAQ. Because official sources do not provide controlled comparisons across GPUs and settings, choose based on your own system’s visible stability and performance rather than a universal ranking.
