For most visual glitches in The Witcher 3 on PC, start with the developer’s checklist: update or clean-install your graphics driver, verify the game files in your launcher, then test an earlier save if one is available. Match the fix to the symptom—VSync is relevant to screen tearing, not a universal remedy for flickering or corrupted textures. If the problem remains after relaunching, record it and report it to CD PROJEKT RED.
Start with the symptom
Different visual problems point to different checks. Identify what you see and when it began before changing settings.

Use the developer’s troubleshooting sequence
1. Update or clean-install the graphics driver
Use the driver steps for your graphics-card vendor in CD PROJEKT RED’s visual-issue guidance. Its instructions describe removing older drivers and clean-installing the current package for NVIDIA and Intel; for AMD, they describe using AMD Cleanup Utility before a clean install. Follow the current vendor-specific instructions rather than mixing procedures.

File checks can replace or repair damaged installation files without requiring you to guess which asset is affected. Use the workflow for the launcher where you own or installed the game:

- GOG GALAXY: Owned games → select The Witcher 3 → Customize → Manage installation → Verify/Repair.
- Steam: Library → right-click the game → Properties → Installed files → Verify integrity of game files.
- Epic Games Launcher: Library → select the three-dot menu beside the game → Manage → Verify.
- Battle.net: Select the game → click the cog beside Play → Scan and Repair.
Launcher wording can change, so use the current interface if a label differs. The developer’s file-verification instructions cover these launchers and explain that corrupted files can cause glitched graphics.
3. Compare with an earlier save
If the visual problem is limited to a location or a particular playthrough, load a save from before it appeared. If the issue disappears, that is useful information for a support report; it does not by itself prove what caused the fault.

4. Relaunch and check whether it persists
After the driver and file checks, relaunch the game and revisit the affected scene or reproduce the same conditions. If the glitch remains, capture a clear video and submit a report through CD PROJEKT RED’s visual-issue support page.

If the problem started after a driver update, test the previous driver version as the developer advises. While diagnosing, temporarily disable overlay features and close unnecessary background applications; these are isolation steps recommended in the developer’s general performance guidance, not proven cures for every visual glitch. Change one thing at a time where practical so you can tell whether the symptom changes.

Prepare a useful support report
When a glitch is reproducible after relaunching, give support evidence they can use to investigate it. Include a video that clearly shows the visual problem and, for a location- or save-specific fault, the relevant save file. CD PROJEKT RED lists the Windows save folder as %userprofile%DocumentsThe Witcher 3gamesaves in its performance guidance.
Describe what the glitch looks like, where it happens, whether it affects one save or several, and whether it began after a driver or game change. Those details help distinguish a repeatable game issue from a symptom that needs configuration-specific diagnosis.

Check current support information before naming a known bug
Game build and feature context can matter, so consult the current The Witcher 3 PC support index before attributing a glitch to a particular patch or option. The index checked on October 9, 2026 listed Patch 5.01, NVIDIA HairWorks performance guidance, a Remastered FAQ, and updated PC requirements. Those headings are reasons to check the relevant current support page; they do not establish that any one of those items causes a specific visual fault.
The troubleshooting steps above can narrow down common possibilities, but the cause of an unspecified glitch cannot be determined without details such as the symptom, graphics hardware, driver version, game build, launcher, and when the issue began.
