Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →After a Microsoft 365 update, first identify which app and version is failing, then check Microsoft’s current known-issues list before changing settings. Classic Outlook, new Outlook, classic Teams, and new Teams use different troubleshooting steps; the right fix depends on the symptom and app variant.
1. Identify the app, version, and symptom
Write down what changed, when the problem began, what action triggers it, and any error code. Also note your operating system and whether the problem affects one device or account. These details help match the issue to the correct Microsoft instructions.

- Outlook: Is this classic Outlook for Windows or new Outlook? Does it hang, crash, fail to open, or lack the Teams Meeting button?
- Teams: Is this classic or new Teams, desktop or web? Is the problem startup, sign-in, connectivity, chat or channel data, or meeting scheduling?
- Scope: Does the issue affect one user, multiple users, or only a managed work or school device? Organization policies and network controls may limit available steps.
2. Check Microsoft’s known issues before changing settings
Search the classic Outlook known-issues list or the new Outlook known-issues list, as appropriate. Match the symptom and, when provided, the affected build or update month. Microsoft labels issues by status, such as investigating, fixed, workaround, or design/product change. These pages are updated over time, so check the current entry rather than relying on an old fix description.

#1 Best Overall
- SUPPORT WORK FROM ANYWHERE WITH SYNC: Whether employees are in the office, at home, or somewhere else, Sync device management software helps everyone stay connected by letting you ensure their Logitech video collaboration personal devices are being used and up to date.
- Open workspaces are great for collaboration, but not so great when the noise around you makes it hard to concentrate. Active noise cancellation substantially reduces unwanted ambient sound, so you can get focused and stay focused.
- Great for Music and Talking with immersive sound for listening to music and a noise-canceling mic that ensures that your voice is heard on the other end of a call—not the noise around you.
- On ear controls to adjust volume, start/end calls, and invoke Teams. Plus button controls for power, active noise cancellation (ANC), wireless Bluetooth pairing, and mute on/off or use the flip-to-mute mic feature.
- Certified for Microsoft Teams ensures it’s easy to pick-up or answer Teams meetings, calls, messages, and notifications with a single press to the Teams button. Or apply a longer touch to invoke Cortana voice skills.
A dated example: Teams Meeting add-in and classic Outlook
Microsoft documented a March 2026 incident in which a newer Teams Meeting add-in could make classic Outlook crash and open in Safe Mode on certain older Outlook builds. Microsoft’s immediate resolution was to update classic Outlook; Online Repair was a workaround, and disabling the Teams Meeting add-in was a temporary option for users who had to remain on an older Office build. This was a specific incident, not evidence that Teams updates generally break Outlook. Check the live entry for affected builds and current status before applying those steps.
3. Troubleshoot classic Outlook that hangs or crashes
Use classic Outlook instructions only for classic Outlook. Microsoft’s Outlook for Windows hang and crash guidance separates classic and new Outlook; its advanced diagnostic troubleshooter does not apply to new Outlook.

- Padded Comfort: Comfortable headphones with adjustable headband features swivel-mounted, leatherette ear cushions for hours of comfort and is easy to clean
- Install relevant updates. Check for Windows and Microsoft 365/Office updates, then try Outlook again.
- Test in Safe Mode. Press
Windows key + R, enteroutlook.exe /safe, and press Enter. Safe Mode starts Outlook without add-ins. If Outlook works, an add-in may be involved. - Disable and isolate COM add-ins. In Outlook, open File > Options > Add-ins. At the bottom, select COM Add-ins beside Manage, then choose Go. Disable add-ins rather than removing them, restart Outlook, and re-enable them one at a time, restarting after each, to identify a conflict.
- Test a new profile. Use Microsoft’s instructions to create a separate Outlook profile and check whether the problem persists. If the new profile works, the original may be damaged. Do not delete a profile or data file unless you know the data is backed up or stored on a server.
- Check Outlook data files if appropriate. Microsoft’s Inbox Repair Tool guidance explains when and how to scan Outlook data files.
- Repair Microsoft 365/Office. Start with Quick Repair and use Online Repair if Quick Repair does not resolve the issue. Repair options and labels can vary by Windows version.
New Outlook has different support steps. Do not use classic Outlook’s COM add-in, profile, or data-file procedures as though they apply to new Outlook.
4. Restore the Teams Meeting button in classic Outlook
The Teams Meeting add-in connects Teams meeting scheduling to classic Outlook. If the button is missing, first confirm you are using classic Outlook and follow Microsoft’s add-in troubleshooting guidance.

Try the ordinary checks
- Sign out of Teams and restart it, then close and reopen Outlook.
- In classic Outlook, open File > Options > Add-ins. If the Teams Meeting add-in appears under disabled items or is disabled as a COM add-in, re-enable it.
Microsoft’s Get Help troubleshooter for the classic add-in requires Windows 10 or later on the same PC as classic Outlook. It does not work with new Outlook.
Use the documented reinstall sequence for the new Teams transition issue

- Start new Teams again so it can reinstall the add-in.
- Restart Outlook and check for the Teams meeting option.
This sequence addresses the documented add-in issue; it is not a general remedy for every Outlook calendar or meeting problem.

If Teams will not sign in
Microsoft’s Teams sign-in guidance recommends checking for client updates and, where available, running the Teams Sign-in diagnostic. That diagnostic requires a Microsoft 365 admin account and is unavailable in specified government and sovereign environments. If the problem continues, reinstall Teams as directed by Microsoft. For a support request, record the displayed error code and collect debug logs.
Best Value

- High-quality stereo speakers optimized for voice.
- Mute control with status light. Easily see, at a glance, whether you can be heard or not.

If Teams cannot connect on a managed network
On work or school networks, firewall or proxy rules may block Teams endpoints. Microsoft’s connectivity guidance says connectivity issues frequently trace to firewall or proxy access. Ask your organization’s administrator to review the required endpoints rather than changing managed network settings yourself.
Microsoft’s connectivity article, last updated February 14, 2023, also describes offline and low-bandwidth behavior, including existing-chat messages saved for up to 24 hours before Teams asks whether to resend or delete them. Because that guidance is dated, check current Microsoft documentation before relying on the timing for a current client.
If Teams shows a sync banner
For the sync-banner symptom, Microsoft Support recommends selecting the banner’s Refresh link or quitting and restarting the desktop app. On mobile, open and use Teams to sync; pulling down can refresh the app.
6. Clear Teams cache only when the symptom fits
Cache clearing is a targeted local-client step, not a general first response to an update problem. Microsoft warns that it will not fix missing messages, unloaded chat history, missing teams or channels, or incorrect notifications and unread counts; clearing the cache can also delete diagnostic logs that may help identify the cause.
Procedures differ for classic Teams and new Teams, and between Windows and macOS. For example, Microsoft documents separate cache instructions for classic Teams on Windows, new Teams on Windows, and macOS. Resetting new Teams through Windows Settings deletes app data, including personalization settings. Check Microsoft’s current cache-clearing instructions for your exact client and operating system before proceeding.
7. When to contact your administrator or Microsoft support
Escalate when the documented workaround fails, the issue affects multiple people, or an organization-managed device or network is involved. Include the app variant, operating system, when the issue began, the steps that reproduce it, relevant update or build details, and the exact error code. For Teams sign-in failures, include debug logs when available. For a suspected known issue, provide the matching Microsoft entry and its current status.
