Google now calls these integrations Connected Apps. Their availability and capabilities vary by account type, device, location, language, Gemini app, and mode, so there is no single setting that fixes every problem.
Start by identifying the account, app, and Gemini surface
Before changing settings, note which Connected App you are trying to use, where you are using Gemini (web, Android, iOS, or another supported surface), and whether you are signed in with a personal or work or school Google Account. Then open Gemini’s Connected Apps settings and check whether the app appears for that account and surface. The list is not universal: Google says it can vary by device, country, and Gemini app.

For app-specific eligibility, consult Google’s Connected Apps availability and requirements information. Check the requirements for the integration you need, including account type, location, language, device, Gemini app or mode, and any stated subscription requirement. A missing app may reflect an eligibility or platform limit rather than a broken connection.
If an app is missing or will not connect
- Sign in to Gemini. Connected Apps require you to be signed in. Make sure you are using the Google Account you intend to connect.
- Check Keep Activity. Google says that when Keep Activity is off, Connected Apps are unavailable on gemini.google.com, iOS devices, and smart watches. On Android, the remaining available apps are limited to Device assistance, Phone, Messages, and WhatsApp; that exception does not mean every integration works with Keep Activity off.
- Check the app list for this account and surface. Open Connected Apps settings and verify that the desired service is listed. If it is not, review its availability requirements rather than assuming that reinstalling Gemini or repeatedly retrying will make it appear.
- For Google Workspace, check the connection prerequisites. Sign in to Gemini and Workspace with the same account, turn on Keep Activity, and enable Gmail Smart features in other Google products. After changing the Gmail Smart features setting, reload Gemini and try again.
- For a work or school account, ask the administrator. The Workspace administrator controls whether connected apps are enabled for the organization and whether the organization’s edition permits them. If access is disabled by policy, use the administrator-approved route; do not try to bypass that restriction.
- Recheck the app’s current requirements. Google’s availability information can change. Confirm that the app supports your account type, location, language, device, and Gemini surface or mode.
If Gemini connects but does not use the app
Call out the app in each new conversation
In a new chat, name the service you want Gemini to use or select it with @. For Workspace information, Google says to explicitly request the relevant information in each new conversation. Do not assume Gemini will automatically use a connected service just because it is enabled.

Make the request specific to the content
For Gmail or Drive, include useful keywords from the email or document and say what kind of item you want Gemini to find or summarize. Google advises against pasting an email or document URL into the prompt. Start with one clear action involving one service, such as finding an eligible message or summarizing a document. This is a useful way to isolate the problem, not a guarantee that every request will succeed.
For work or school accounts, a request that depends on multiple apps can fail as a whole if one required service is disabled. If a multi-service request does not work, try the relevant action with a single enabled service first.

- Bedside Speaker and Sleep Sound Machine: This compact wireless speaker combines Bluetooth audio, 16 built-in sleep sounds (white noise, brown noise, rain, ocean, and more) and multiple RGB night light modes in one rechargeable device. Stream music while the light pulses in time with your audio, or switch to sleep mode and drift off to the sound you picked. A practical gift for teens and adults upgrading a bedroom setup.
- One Button, Your AI, Instantly: The BRS-180 has a dedicated AI button on top. Press it once and it wakes Google Assistant, Siri, or whichever assistant lives on your paired device. Ask it anything, play music, set a reminder, check the weather, or control your smart home, all from across the room without picking up your phone.
- Pairs in Seconds and Stays Connected: Bluetooth connects to any iOS or Android phone, tablet, or laptop with no app and no account required. Once paired, the 12-hour LED clock display syncs the correct time on its own. Three display settings keep you in control: full brightness, dimmed, or completely off for total darkness. A memory function saves your last volume, sleep sound, and light settings automatically.
- Built for the Nightstand, Night After Night: The soft fabric-wrapped enclosure sits on a nightstand, dresser, or shelf without looking like a gadget. Plug it in over USB-C and it runs continuously, or use the built-in rechargeable battery for up to 6 hours of wireless playback. Either way it is ready when you are. Available in White, Black, and Green.
- 16 Sleep Sounds, Fully Customizable: Choose from 16 built-in sleep sounds that play straight from the speaker with no phone, no app, and no subscription. Set a 15, 30, or 60-minute sleep timer and the sound fades out by itself. Want a different library? Connect it to any PC with the included USB-C cable and swap out every sound stored on the device.
If the answer is incomplete or unhelpful
Check what the app actually supports
Open the app’s Learn more details in Connected Apps settings. They describe supported and unsupported actions and may include example prompts. A successful connection does not mean Gemini can perform every action available in the underlying service.
For example, Workspace Connected Apps have limits: some comments, images, and non-document media in Drive may not be accessible, and Gemini may not support management actions such as moving Drive content. If your task falls outside the listed capabilities, treat that as a feature limitation rather than a connection failure.

Verify the answer against its sources
Google warns that Gemini can hallucinate or return outdated information from connected apps. Inspect the sources attached to the response and compare them with the current email, document, or other underlying content. A confident-sounding answer is not proof that Gemini found or interpreted the right item.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Use Google Home as an example of app-specific limits
Google Home illustrates why availability has to be checked app by app. Google’s help page describes connecting it through the Gemini mobile app with a personal Google Account, and says the feature is not available in Gemini web, Google Messages, or Live chats. Those limits apply to this integration; they should not be assumed for other Connected Apps. Check the current requirements for each service you use.

| What you see | What to check next |
|---|---|
| The app is absent from Connected Apps | Confirm the account and Gemini surface, then check that app’s current location, language, device, account, and mode requirements. |
| The app appears, but connection setup fails | Confirm you are signed in. For Workspace, check same-account sign-in, Keep Activity, Gmail Smart features, and administrator access. |
| Gemini answers without using the app | Name the app or select it with @ in the new conversation; for Workspace, explicitly request the information and use content keywords. |
| Gemini finds something but misses details | Check the app’s supported-action details and the source material attached to the response; the requested content or action may be unsupported. |
| A multi-app request does not complete | Test one supported action with one enabled service, especially on a work or school account where organization settings may disable a required app. |
Google’s labels, app coverage, and requirements can change. Its Connected Apps help pages and availability information, checked on October 4, 2026, are the place to confirm current details for a particular integration.
