To keep a Samsung Note’s appearance when moving it to an iPhone, export it as a PDF and attach that PDF in Apple Notes. It stays a viewable document—not a fully editable Apple Note. If you need editable text, export text and import it into Apple Notes on a Mac; formatting and Samsung-specific features may not carry over. Try one representative note first, since available export options vary by device and software version.
Choose the transfer method by what you need to keep
| Priority | Samsung Notes export | What you get in Apple Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Keep the page layout for reading or reference | A PDF attachment that you can view and annotate; it remains a PDF, not an editable note body. Samsung; Apple | |
| Edit text inside Apple Notes | Text, then import a supported text file on a Mac | Apple Notes converts supported imported files into individual notes. This route does not promise to preserve Samsung formatting or embedded content. Samsung; Apple |
| Retain a source copy of Samsung-specific content | Samsung Notes native file, alongside a PDF or text export | Keep the export as an archive. Apple’s documented Notes import formats do not include Samsung’s native format. Samsung; Apple |
Samsung lists Samsung Notes, PDF, Word, image, text, and PowerPoint as export formats, but says the available screens and settings can differ by model and software version. The support guidance does not provide a universal fidelity comparison across those formats. Samsung export guidance

Transfer a Samsung Note as a PDF to iPhone
Use this route when preserving a stable visual record matters more than editing the note’s contents. Samsung describes cloud storage and email as ways to share exported files. Samsung Business Insights
- On the Galaxy device, open Samsung Notes and select the note or notes you want to move.
- Tap Share or Save as file, then choose PDF. The exact menu can vary by device and software version. Samsung
- Send or save the PDF somewhere accessible from the iPhone, such as a cloud storage service or email.
- On the iPhone, open the PDF in Files or Mail. Touch and hold the file, tap Share, choose Notes, then select an existing note or create one. Apple documents adding PDF attachments to Notes this way. Apple
- Open the note and check that page order, handwriting, images, and other important material are legible. Apple Notes can display and annotate the attached PDF. Apple
Move editable text using Apple Notes on a Mac
Use this route if editing words in Apple Notes is more important than preserving the exact Samsung page design. Apple’s documented bulk text-file import is performed in Notes on a Mac. It supports TXT, RTF, RTFD, HTML, ENEX, and Markdown files; imported files become individual notes. When importing a folder, Apple offers an option to preserve its folder structure. Apple

- In Samsung Notes, export one sample note as Text or Microsoft Word. Samsung lists both among its export formats. Samsung
- If Samsung produces a TXT file, import it in Notes on the Mac. If you export a Word file, check whether it can be saved in a format Apple Notes supports, such as RTF or HTML; the cited Apple import guidance does not list Word as a supported import type.
- Choose an iCloud destination for the imported notes if you want them to appear on your iPhone. Apple says iCloud notes are available on devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Apple
- Open the imported notes on both devices and inspect the text and any relevant attachments before importing a larger collection.
Text import is not a documented feature-by-feature conversion of Samsung Notes. Do not assume handwriting, audio, embedded objects, or the original layout will become editable Apple Notes content. Samsung’s Note20-era support material specifically says handwriting is converted to an image in PowerPoint exports; that detail should not be generalized to PDF, text, or other exports. Samsung
Keep an archive if content coverage matters
For notes with handwriting, images, attachments, or other Samsung-specific elements, retain an untouched Samsung Notes export alongside the format you use on iPhone. Samsung lists its native Notes format as an export option, while Apple’s documented import formats do not include that native file type. Samsung; Apple

Check a sample before moving a collection
Export one note that represents the kinds of content you actually use—such as handwriting, images, or multiple pages—and check the result on the iPhone. Then choose PDF for visual reference, text import for editable words, or both plus a native archive when you need a fallback. Samsung notes that export availability varies by device and software version, and the documented instructions do not establish a universal guarantee for how every note element will transfer. Samsung
