Start with your camera’s exact model
Find the model name on the camera body or in its menus, then open that model’s official manual and look for wireless image transfer. Canon’s Mobile File Transfer manual puts the key qualification plainly: “Image transfer methods vary by camera.” A feature available on one camera from a brand does not establish support on another.

Check the manual for the supported app or desktop software, connection method, and instructions for choosing images. App availability, phone operating-system compatibility, firmware, menus, and accessory requirements can change or differ by model.

Transfer photos from a camera to a phone
- Check the camera manual. Confirm that it supports wireless phone transfer and identify the app and pairing or connection method it specifies.
- Install the supported camera app. Use the app named in the manual; do not assume that a brand’s app supports every camera model.
- Pair or connect as instructed. Follow the camera’s model-specific steps and the app’s prompts. Some cameras use Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or both, with different functions assigned to each.
- Choose the images to download. Use the app or camera controls described in the manual, and check which formats and image sizes the particular workflow transfers.
Example: FUJIFILM X-E3
The FUJIFILM X-E3 manual documents Camera Remote. Bluetooth pairing supports photo downloads; Wi-Fi lets users browse camera images and download selected photos. The manual describes pairing as “a simple method for downloading photos from the camera.” These details apply to the X-E3 workflow, not automatically to other FUJIFILM cameras.

Example: Canon EOS-1D X Mark III
Canon’s EOS-1D X Mark III manual documents smartphone access through Camera Connect. Follow that model’s instructions for connecting and transferring; the feature list is not a guarantee of identical steps or file options on other Canon cameras.
Transfer photos from a camera to a computer
Look in the camera manual for a computer-specific wireless feature. Depending on the model, that may mean manufacturer desktop software, a network workflow, or FTP. Confirm the required network setup and destination before beginning: an FTP workflow, for example, can require configuring a server or access point.

FUJIFILM X-E3: PC AutoSave
The X-E3 manual documents FUJIFILM PC AutoSave and a camera menu option named PC AUTO SAVE. Consult the manual for the network and software setup for this camera; do not assume the same option or procedure appears on another model.
Canon EOS-1D X Mark III: EOS Utility and FTP
The EOS-1D X Mark III manual documents importing to a computer with EOS Utility and transferring via FTP. Its Mobile File Transfer manual also describes model-specific wireless access-point or tethering configuration for FTP. Use these routes only where the camera’s manual supports them, and follow its configuration steps for the receiving computer or server.

Which wireless route should you use?

There is no universal speed ranking between Bluetooth and Wi-Fi in the cited camera documentation. Choose based on the function your camera manual assigns to each connection, rather than assuming one will always be faster or transfer original files.
If the wireless transfer does not work
- Recheck the manual for the exact model and follow its connection sequence; a similar camera name is not enough to confirm the same procedure.
- Confirm the supported app and phone compatibility for that camera. App support and operating-system requirements may change.
- Check whether the manual requires a particular Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, access-point, tethering, or FTP setup before starting the transfer.
- Verify the image types and selection controls documented for the specific workflow instead of assuming every file on the card can be sent.
When a card reader is the practical alternative
If the camera lacks a suitable wireless computer workflow, a compatible memory-card reader can move images to a computer. This is a wired fallback, not wireless transfer. Match the reader to the camera’s card format and the computer’s port. The reader and connection speeds affect transfer speed.
