To continue your Halo: Campaign Evolved campaign between Xbox and PC, sign in on both platforms with the same Microsoft account and Xbox Gamertag. On Steam, link your Steam account to that Microsoft account through the game’s account-linking flow. Halo Support says campaign progress, collectibles, and Achievements sync across supported platforms when you use a linked Microsoft account.
How to continue your campaign on PC
- Check the Xbox account first. On Xbox, identify the Microsoft account and Xbox Gamertag associated with the campaign progress you want to continue.
- Launch the PC version and use that same Microsoft account. In the Xbox app or Microsoft Store version, sign in with the matching Microsoft account. The official account instructions require a Microsoft account with an Xbox Gamertag.
- If you play through Steam, link Steam to that Microsoft account. Steam players are prompted to link on first play. From the game’s main menu, scan the displayed QR code or open the Microsoft linking portal, enter the displayed eight-character code, then sign in to the intended Microsoft account.
- Verify the accounts before confirming. Review the platform account and Microsoft account shown in the flow, and agree only if both are correct. Halo Support says the code expires after 15 minutes. Complete the flow by selecting “Let’s go”; closing the sign-in window before doing so can prevent linking from completing.
- Let the game load your synced progress. Your account’s supported campaign data should be available once you are signed in and linked.

What progress carries over?
Halo Support lists campaign progress, collectibles, and Achievements as syncing across supported platforms when you sign in with a linked Microsoft account. Its explicit list of synchronized campaign data includes:

This guidance does not establish that every local setting, temporary checkpoint, control binding, or platform purchase transfers. The game launched on July 28, 2026, and official guidance describes cross-progression across Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5. Before linking accounts, check which ones are shown
Halo Support warns that account linking cannot be undone in-game. Take a moment to confirm that the Microsoft account is the one holding your Xbox progress and that the displayed platform account is your intended Steam account before agreeing.
If the accounts are linked incorrectly, an unlink request must be submitted to Halo Support; it is not a self-service in-game fix. Halo Support says unlink requests are reviewed and processed in 1–2 business days. Its guide also says the same two accounts cannot receive another unlink request until 180 days have elapsed. Unlinking can remove the listed progression from the unlinked Steam or PlayStation account; progress remains on the Microsoft account and on any other platforms still linked to it. These are support-policy details in Halo Support’s account-linking guide, so check that guide for the current process before submitting a request.

Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass were identified by Xbox Wire as day-one access options, not as requirements for progress syncing. Co-op subscription rules are separate from cross-save: Halo Support says two-player console split-screen does not require Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus, while network co-op across multiple consoles or PCs may have additional subscription requirements. What to do if your progress does not appear
- Check that the Microsoft account on PC is the same one associated with the Xbox progress.
- If using Steam, check that Steam is linked to that intended Microsoft account.
- If the accounts are wrong, follow Halo Support’s unlink-request process rather than assuming you can change the link in-game.
- If the accounts are correct but progress is still missing, check current Halo Support information or submit a support request. Official guidance establishes intended sync behavior, but does not establish one universal cause or fix for every missing-save report.
One dated exception concerns a specific update, not ordinary cross-progression: Halo Support’s August 17, 2026 patch notes say installing that update reset mid-mission saved progress, while unlocked Missions and Rally Points remained available. See the August 17, 2026 patch notes.
