Use Samsung Smart Switch on the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite to bring over selected data from another device. What transfers depends on the source and connection method: files such as photos and contacts may be available, but apps may need to be installed again, and app-private data generally does not migrate.
Before you start
- Charge both devices and connect them to Wi-Fi if you plan to use a wireless or cloud-based route.
- Keep the old device available and unlocked; you may need to approve access or sign in to an account.
- If moving data from an iPhone, deregister iMessage so SMS messages can reach your new Android device. This is an iPhone-to-Android step, not a Tab S10 Lite feature. See Samsung’s Smart Switch guide.
Transfer data with Smart Switch
- On the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite, open Settings and look for Smart Switch or Bring data from old device. Open Smart Switch Mobile. If it is not available, Samsung says it can be downloaded from Galaxy Store. The exact label can vary by software version. See Samsung’s Tab S10 Lite guidance.
- Choose the source device type and follow the tablet’s prompts to select a transfer method. Depending on your source and setup, Smart Switch may offer a cable, wireless transfer, or an iCloud route. The available choices and content list can vary.
- Allow the devices to connect. For a cable transfer, use compatible cables and follow the connection instructions shown on screen; do not assume a cable included with the tablet will fit the old device.
- Review the categories Smart Switch offers and select the content you want to move. For wireless transfers from iOS, Samsung specifically lists contacts, gallery, videos, calendars, and reminders. Other transfer methods may show different categories.
- Start the transfer and leave the devices connected until Smart Switch reports that it is complete. Then review the report and open important files on the tablet.
Samsung lists these minimum operating-system versions for iOS transfers to the receiving Android device: wired requires Android 5.0 or later on the receiver and iOS 5 or later on the sender; wireless requires Android 5.0 or later and iOS 12 or later; iCloud requires Android 5.0 or later and iOS 5 or later. These are Samsung’s published thresholds; check the current Smart Switch prompts because support can change with software versions. See Samsung’s transfer requirements.

Choose the transfer method that fits your source

Samsung’s product guidance warns that “Data, content and apps available for transfer may vary by transmission method.” Compare the categories shown by Smart Switch with the files and accounts you need before relying on a transfer.
What happens to apps and app data
Do not expect Smart Switch to create a complete clone of an old phone or tablet. When moving from iOS, Samsung’s compatibility guide says third-party apps do not transfer over Wi-Fi. Cable or desktop routes may offer Android versions of some apps to download when available, but that is not the same as moving the original iOS app or its private data.

After the transfer, install any missing apps from Google Play or Galaxy Store, then sign in again. Check each app for its own cloud sync, backup, or export option before retiring the old device. Samsung’s 2023 compatibility guide also lists limits involving items such as health-app information, historical email, some account data, saved passwords, and locked notes; those details may not reflect every current consumer setup. Check that the transfer worked
- Review Smart Switch’s completion report and note any items it could not move.
- Open several important photos, videos, notes, and documents on the tablet.
- Confirm that essential contacts and calendar entries are present.
- Open important apps, sign in, and check whether their content has synced or needs restoring from an app-specific backup.
Optional: add space for transferred files
The Galaxy Tab S10 Lite supports microSD cards up to 2 TB, sold separately. Samsung describes external memory as storage for media such as photos, video, and music. A card can provide more room for files, but it is not required for Smart Switch and does not itself transfer anything. Check Samsung’s regional product information for the card support and in-box details that apply where you bought the tablet.
