Use Xiaomi’s Mi Mover app to copy supported data from an old Xiaomi, Android or iPhone to your Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. Set the old phone to Old and the Redmi to New, then select what to send. Xiaomi says the transfer runs over Wi‑Fi Direct rather than mobile data; compatibility can vary by the old phone model and operating-system version.
Before you start
- Charge both phones to at least 30%.
- Turn on Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth on both phones.
- Install the latest version of Mi Mover on each phone.
These are Xiaomi’s stated prerequisites. Mi Mover’s connection is local and peer-to-peer, so Xiaomi says it does not use mobile data. Xiaomi also states that transferred data is not uploaded to a server; this is Xiaomi’s description of the process, not an independent security audit. Xiaomi Mi Mover support instructions

Transfer your data with Mi Mover
- Open Mi Mover on both phones. On the old phone, choose Old. On the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, choose New.
- Connect the phones. Wait for the Redmi to detect the old phone, then tap the old phone’s name on the Redmi.
- Choose what to move. Select the data categories you want to transfer, such as contacts, messages, photos, videos, music and apps.
- Confirm and send. Read and confirm the on-screen reminders on the Redmi, then tap Send.
- Wait for completion. Keep the phones close together, leave both screens on and keep Mi Mover open until the transfer finishes. The progress bar shows the remaining time; Xiaomi does not give a universal transfer duration.
What transfers—and what may need separate attention
Xiaomi lists contacts, messages, photos, videos, music, apps and other personal data as supported categories. Selecting a category does not guarantee that every item within it will migrate: Xiaomi does not promise transfer of every app’s private data or every device-specific item. The result can depend on the old phone model and OS version.

After the transfer, check the important items on the Redmi—especially contacts, recent messages, photos and any apps you rely on. If an app’s information is missing, check that app’s own account or backup options rather than assuming Mi Mover copied its internal data.
