Use the transfer tool on the phone you’re moving to: HONOR Device Clone for Xiaomi to HONOR, and Mi Mover for HONOR to Xiaomi. Both can move selected data wirelessly, but app installation is not the same as copying an app’s private data or chat history. Check important content on the new phone before wiping or trading in the old one.
Choose the tool for the direction of your move

For the first route, follow HONOR’s Device Clone instructions. For the second, use Xiaomi’s Mi Mover instructions.

Before you start
- Keep both phones charged and nearby. For Mi Mover, Xiaomi specifies at least 30% battery on each phone, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled, screens left on, and the latest Mi Mover app.
- Install or open the receiving brand’s migration tool as prompted. Some routes require an app on the old phone too.
- Make sure you can unlock both phones and have access to accounts you may need to sign into again.
- Do not reset the old phone until you have checked the new one and separately handled any important chats or app data.
Move data from Xiaomi to HONOR
- On the new HONOR phone, open Device Clone. Alternatively, go to Settings > System & updates > Device Clone.
- Choose This is the new device, then select the HONOR or other-Android source option shown on screen.
- Follow the prompts to install or open the clone app on the Xiaomi phone. Set it as the old device, then connect by scanning the code shown on the HONOR or using the manual connection option.
- Choose the categories offered and start the transfer. Keep both phones available until the process finishes, then inspect the transferred content.
HONOR documents Android 7.0 or later for the source Android phone. Its English support page describes Device Clone as moving “all the basic data (including contacts, calendar, images, and videos)”; that is not a guarantee that every model exposes identical categories or transfers every app’s private data.
Move data from HONOR to Xiaomi
- Open Mi Mover on both phones. If it is missing, install the latest version on both devices, as Xiaomi instructs.
- On the old HONOR phone, choose Old. On the new Xiaomi phone, choose New.
- When the Xiaomi detects the HONOR, tap its name to connect.
- Select the categories to transfer, confirm the prompts, and start. Mi Mover uses Wi-Fi Direct and does not consume mobile data; keep the phones close, their screens on, and the apps undisturbed.
Xiaomi says Mi Mover can take data from other-brand Android phones and iPhones when the destination is a new Xiaomi phone. The exact compatibility depends on the old phone model and operating-system version.

What happens to apps, app data, and chat history?
These are separate things: an app may be installed on the new phone without its login, settings, downloaded files, or private database being copied. Xiaomi includes apps among Mi Mover’s categories, but warns that app-data conflicts can occur and that system-branch and dual-app data cannot transfer. If an app fails to install, Xiaomi recommends trying to install it individually.
HONOR’s mainland China guidance says Device Clone can transfer selected third-party apps from another Android phone, but not their app data or WeChat chat history. That guidance is regional, so check the categories and instructions on your own phones. For any chat history that matters, use the messaging app’s own migration or backup feature before moving on.

If the transfer fails or misses something
- Mi Mover stops or errors: Update both phones and try again. Xiaomi recommends transferring smaller batches to identify a problematic item.
- Contacts or SMS are missing: Xiaomi recommends using Xiaomi Cloud to export and import them if repeated Mi Mover attempts fail.
- An app is missing: Install it individually, then sign in and restore its data using the app’s own method where available.
- System-branch or dual-app data is absent: This is a stated Mi Mover limitation, not a setting you can enable.

Back up important files before erasing the old phone
HONOR documents backup options at Settings > System & updates > Backup & Restore > Data backup. Depending on the phone and region, options include external storage, HONOR Suite, or Google backup. For USB storage, confirm the phone supports OTG and the specific storage device; Google backup is subject to Drive storage limits. HONOR’s backup instructions explain the available routes.

HONOR Connect also supports cross-brand sharing of individual files such as images, videos, and documents under certain conditions. That is a file-sharing feature, not a replacement for a full device migration; Xiaomi is listed among Mutual Transmission Alliance brands in HONOR’s cross-brand file-transfer guide.
