Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteUse Samsung Smart Switch to move supported apps and files between Galaxy tablets: open it on both devices, choose Send from this phone on the old tablet and Receive on this phone on the new one, then connect wirelessly or by cable and select what to transfer. For Samsung Notes, enable sync with your Samsung account and check that your notes appear on the new tablet before erasing or giving away the old one.
Choose a transfer method
| Method | What you need | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Smart Switch wireless | No accessory; both tablets need to support Smart Switch. | A direct transfer when you do not want to connect a cable. |
| Smart Switch by USB cable | A compatible cable and, for some model pairs, a USB adapter. | A direct wired transfer. |
| Smart Switch with external storage | A compatible USB OTG drive or microSD card with enough free capacity. Not every tablet has a microSD slot. | Backing up to removable storage and restoring on the new tablet. |
| Samsung Cloud sync for Notes | The same Samsung account on both tablets, with Notes sync available and enabled. | Getting Samsung Notes onto the new tablet where the feature is supported. |
Samsung says Smart Switch supports wireless, cable, and external-storage transfers, but the available content can vary with the connected devices. Check the Samsung Smart Switch transfer guide for device-specific prompts and options.

Prepare both Galaxy Tabs
- Charge both tablets. For wireless transfer, keep them on a reliable network and near each other while following the on-screen connection prompts.
- On the old tablet, open Samsung Notes and check that sync with your Samsung account is enabled. Let the sync finish before starting.
- In My Files, identify important documents, downloads, and other files you want to check after the move. If material is synced through another service, make sure it has synced there; Smart Switch does not transfer synced-account data itself.
- Keep the old tablet and its data intact until you have checked the new tablet.
Transfer apps and files wirelessly with Smart Switch
- Open Smart Switch on both tablets. If you cannot find it, use Settings search or look in the Samsung folder on the Apps screen.
- On the old tablet, tap Send from this phone, then Wireless.
- On the new tablet, tap Receive on this phone, choose Galaxy/Android, then Wireless.
- Accept the connection prompt on the old tablet. On the new one, review the detected content, select what you want to move, and continue. The categories offered can differ by device.
- Leave the tablets connected while the transfer and any app installations finish. Some transferred app icons may look faded and will not open until installation is complete.
- Open a few important apps and files on the new tablet. Sign in again to apps or external accounts when prompted.
Use a cable or removable storage instead
Direct USB cable
Connect the old Galaxy Tab to the new one with a USB cable, adding an adapter if the two models require one. Open Smart Switch on both devices and follow the same send-and-receive prompts to select content on the receiving tablet. Samsung’s Smart Switch instructions describe the cable route; the exact cable or adapter depends on your tablets.

USB OTG drive or microSD
Smart Switch can also back up to compatible USB OTG storage or a microSD card and restore that backup on the new Galaxy device. Confirm that the old tablet supports the storage method, that the new tablet can read it, and that it has enough capacity for the selected backup. A microSD slot is not available on every model. See Samsung’s external-storage transfer guidance.

Sync Samsung Notes to the new tablet
Samsung’s Cloud guidance lists “Samsung Notes: Notes and other data” among the items that can be synchronized or restored. On the old tablet, go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts > Samsung account > Sync account, then check whether Notes is available and selected. The cited steps are from Samsung’s Singapore support page; feature availability can vary by country, carrier, and model, so check the Samsung Cloud options on your own tablet.
Sign in to the same Samsung account on the new tablet, allow syncing to complete, then open Samsung Notes and check that important notes are present. Samsung’s Cloud sync instructions describe the account-sync route.

Do not assume Smart Switch alone will always move Samsung Notes. Samsung’s cited Smart Switch content guide names “Memo” but does not explicitly identify Samsung Notes, so those labels should not be treated as proof that Notes will transfer. Use Notes sync where available and verify the result yourself.

Smart Switch can transfer applications and supported personal content, including files such as photos, videos, and documents, but it is not a perfect clone of the old tablet. Samsung says data stored in an app’s private storage cannot be backed up. An app may install without bringing along its saved state, local database, or sign-in; check important apps individually.

Data tied to external accounts must be retrieved by signing in to those accounts on the new tablet. Samsung’s US support guidance states: “Data from synced accounts cannot be transferred with Smart Switch, but will appear on the new device once you’ve logged in to the account.” See the Smart Switch content compatibility guide for supported categories and exclusions.
