For an iPhone, OnePlus documents an iCloud-based Clone Phone option, and Google also offers an iPhone-to-Android setup transfer. None of these methods guarantees a complete copy of every app or its private data, so check the new phone before wiping or trading in the old one.
Before you start
- Charge both phones, unlock them, and connect to Wi-Fi. Keep the old phone’s screen-lock PIN, pattern, or password available.
- Check that the OnePlus has enough free storage for the items you want to move.
- Keep both devices nearby and connected until the transfer finishes. Back up important information first if you can.
Transfer from an Android phone with OnePlus Clone Phone
- On the new OnePlus, open Clone Phone and choose the option identifying it as the new phone. Select Android as the old phone type if prompted. Labels can differ by model and OxygenOS version. OnePlus’s manual documents the flow.
- On the old Android, install or open Clone Phone as instructed. Choose the old-phone role, then scan the QR code displayed on the OnePlus to pair the devices.
- Select the data categories to transfer and start the copy. Leave the devices connected and wait for the completion prompt.
Use Android’s setup transfer instead
If you are still setting up the OnePlus, Android’s built-in copy process is another option. Google recommends doing this during setup because the transfer option may not be available later. A compatible data cable is Google’s recommended route when available; wireless transfer is also supported. If the plugs do not fit both phones, a compatible adapter may be needed. Google’s Android transfer guide gives the current setup instructions.

- Start setting up the OnePlus and choose to copy apps and data when prompted.
- Choose the old Android phone as the source and follow the on-screen directions to connect by cable or Wi-Fi.
- Select the data to copy and leave the phones connected until setup reports completion.
Google says the transfer can take from a few minutes to over an hour, depending on how much data is being copied. If you have already passed setup, skip to the recovery options below.

Transfer from an iPhone to OnePlus
OnePlus Clone Phone with iCloud
A OnePlus Nord N300 5G manual documents an iPhone route through iCloud: sync the iPhone data to iCloud, open Clone Phone on the OnePlus, choose the new-phone role and iPhone, sign in to iCloud, then import over Wi-Fi. Keep Clone Phone onscreen during the import. The manual warns that file-format compatibility limits what can move; prompts and availability may vary on other OnePlus models.

Google’s Android setup transfer
During Android setup, choose iPhone or iPad when asked where to copy data, then follow the prompts. Google’s process may connect by QR code or cable, depending on the devices and route. In the transfer described in Google’s iPhone-to-Android guide, paid apps and in-app purchases, Safari bookmarks, health data, and photos and videos stored in iCloud are among the items that do not transfer. To avoid missing text messages, turn off iMessage on the old iPhone; see Google’s instructions.
What transfers—and what may need attention
The result depends on the transfer method, phone, Android version, and app. Google’s Android setup copy can include apps and some app data, music, photos and videos, contacts stored on the phone or SIM, text messages, most phone settings, message media, wallpaper, and call history. It is not a guaranteed full clone.

- App data: Some apps do not back up their data or allow it to migrate. Sign in to important apps and check their private content individually.
- Files and media: Downloads such as PDFs and media in hidden folders may not be included. Copy or sync these separately if they matter.
- Accounts and synced information: Accounts other than Google and their data, plus contacts or calendars synced through other services, may need to be set up or synced again.
- Other exclusions: Apps outside Google Play, ringtones, and some settings may not carry over. Google’s transfer guide lists exclusions and notes that results vary by device and Android version.
For Android-to-Android, Google says WhatsApp chats can be restored from the cloud after you sign in on the new phone and open WhatsApp, provided backups were enabled on the old phone. For an iPhone-to-Android move, Google describes an additional prompt to copy WhatsApp chat history after setup. Follow the prompt for your route and confirm the chats are present before deleting the old copy.

Restore a Google backup when the old phone is gone
If a Google backup was enabled before the old phone became unavailable, you can restore it during setup after signing in to the relevant Google Account. You may be asked for the old phone’s screen-lock credentials. Check that the backup includes the data types you need before relying on it. Google says a Google One backup can take up to 24 hours to save; this is a possible save time, not a guaranteed restore duration. See Google’s backup and restore guidance.

Try to resume after setup
Some Android devices show a “Finish setting up” option for a limited period. Google also documents a later copy-data setting on Android 17 and select earlier devices, but availability depends on the device and software version. Check OnePlus settings and support for your model before considering a factory reset. If neither option is available, restoring a backup or resetting and repeating setup may be the remaining routes. Google’s troubleshooting guidance explains the version-dependent options.
Fix common transfer problems
- The phones will not pair wirelessly: Keep them close, confirm Wi-Fi and internet access, accept prompts to join the transfer network, and check whether a VPN or automatic network switching is interrupting the connection.
- The transfer stalls: Restart the phones and try again with fewer data categories selected. If setup cannot be restarted another way, a factory reset may be necessary.
- The OnePlus runs short of storage: Transfer fewer categories first or sync photos separately, then check that they are accessible on the new phone.
- Some iPhone photos or videos are missing: They may exist only in iCloud or use an unsupported format. Google points to a separate iCloud-to-Google Photos process in its iPhone transfer guidance.
- Texts do not arrive after switching from iPhone: Turn off iMessage on the old iPhone and check that SIM or eSIM service is active on the OnePlus.
- The cable does not fit: Confirm both phones’ connector types and that the cable supports data, not just charging. Use a compatible adapter or choose wireless transfer.
Verify before erasing the old phone
Open the apps and files you rely on, check contacts and messages, and confirm that photos, downloads, and any separately synced accounts are present on the OnePlus. Keep the old phone intact until you have checked the items that matter; migration limits and app-specific backup behavior can leave gaps.
