Choose the right kind of price check

Check an in-store price with the Walmart app
- Download the Walmart app and sign in.
- Tap the scanner in the app.
- Use your phone’s camera to scan the product barcode.
- Review the price and related product details shown for the item.
Walmart’s official price-check instructions describe this barcode-scan workflow. It is useful for checking a current price; they do not describe a way to automatically watch an item or receive a price-drop notification.

One U.S. iOS App Store listing, Price Tracker for Walmart App, advertises price history and drop alerts. Its latest listed version is 5.0.9, dated December 1, 2025. Recent 2025 reviews include reports that the app was not functional or was outdated, so treat the listing as a lead—not a guarantee that tracking works now.

- Find the exact Walmart listing you intend to monitor. Record the product name, size, model, color or other variant, and seller if shown.
- Search for that listing in the tracker and check that the exact variant and seller are covered. A similar product or a different Marketplace seller may not be the same offer.
- If the service supports it, save the item and set a target price or choose the alert condition you want.
- Allow notifications if you want alerts on your phone, then trigger or wait for a test notification if the service offers one.
- Check the tracker periodically until you have confirmed that its listing data updates and its notifications arrive. Do not depend on an unverified alert for a time-sensitive purchase.
The app listing’s recent reliability complaints make those checks important. Apple’s listing also says the developer indicated that usage data may be used to track you across other companies’ apps and websites; Apple says it has not verified the developer’s privacy responses. Review the current listing and permissions before installing.
Another reported option
A May 2026 post in r/YouShouldKnow reported that CamelMart offers Walmart price-history charts and deal alerts. That is a community report, not first-party service documentation or a guarantee of current availability. Check that the service is operating and covers your item before using it.
What a price alert can—and cannot—do
A tracker can help you notice a change in a listing price. It does not reserve the item, guarantee that the displayed offer remains available, or create a right to a refund. Before acting on an alert, open the Walmart listing and confirm the current price, exact variant, availability, and seller.

Walmart’s policy distinguishes a store price match at checkout from a price decrease after an online purchase. Under its current policies and guidelines, Walmart does not match a Walmart.com price for an item already purchased on Walmart.com just because that price later falls. At a store checkout, a shopper may ask for a match to an identical item currently in stock and available on Walmart.com; exclusions apply and a manager makes the final decision. The policy excludes, among other cases, competitor prices, special-event prices such as Rollback or clearance, Marketplace or other third-party seller prices, and prices at other Walmart stores. Check Walmart’s policy before relying on it, since the company reserves the right to change it.
Why a Walmart listing’s price may change
In a September 27, 2026 Associated Press report, Walmart CEO John Furner said, “We don’t set different prices based on who you are or the time of day, and we won’t.” The report also said prices can move when Walmart’s cost to buy or transport an item changes, or when it can pass savings along. The statement is not a promise that an individual product’s price will stay fixed.
